Any truth to the rumor that the Triple Thick has changed due to VOC regulations? I read a thread on that on rec.games.pinball. Something like a guy used it - and it reacted as was now a different formula?
So my question before I get to work, any potential harm from this product? I figure I just need to spray 1 or 2 more times if necessary. Reading the manufacturer's website makes them sound fine, but I value everyone's thoughts on this.

That's the one I've used for 3 of my BGs... Meteor, Sky Jump and Fairway. My thoughts (bearing in mind I've never sealed a BG before this, or used Triple Thick itself): -The Meteor red/pinks (aroudn the Stern logo) 'bled' through to the sealed side - as in, it once was grey, and now it's pink/red. Absolutely no affect on the front of the BG, and looks fine, but it made me very nervous after the first coat and suddenly this bright colour starts appearing. -Sky Jump no problems -Fairway was problematic (this is a BG from 1953). Where the colours have been painted over with a matte black (like the silver colour of newer BGs, that concentrates the lights through specific areas) the black cracked in spots. It was in spots where there was too much spray build up, like if I was spraying left to right, and where I changed direction and the spray lasted in one spot just that millisecond longer than other places. Those cracks could have been there already but not noticable because of dirt or age, but the sealant made them stand out. These are not cracks through the coloured paint of the art, but just cracks in the matte black. If I were to do this one again, I would do 5 or 6 coats holding the can even farther away to make sure there was no potential buildup of spray in one spot. Defintiely not a BG you could just coat it on.
Happy with the overall results - sealed BGs. Did 3 coats each. Oh, and this specific spray is on sale at WalMart right now for $4.50-ish.

Thank you McMean for that info. Gottliebs seem to lose the red colour on the bg frequently so that side effect that you mentioned may be a blessing I won't bank on it of course, still it's an interesting side effect. I guess I will find out in the next few days. I was looking at a Fairways machine about a month ago and loved the history of the machine. Very interesting to have both flippers work at the same time and not independently. Definitely for a collector!

Just got it working late last night. Was the one you looked at out near Scugog? I'd assume you looked at the same one I picked up... I just finished stripping and re-finishing all the wood last week - the wood looks factory new, it's awesome. Single coil flippers are pretty neat, these ones (along with all movable parts in teh machine) are caked in grease. I spent about 30 minutes last night just degreasing the shooter rod and housing... ridiculous!
