Simple rules...

1- All posts older than 6 months are deleted in the classifieds.

2- Any posts with a link to Craigslist, Ebay, Kijiji or any other classifeds site are automatically deleted after 1 month.

3- Any ad stating a machine is sold will be deleted after 1 month.

The goal is to make it easier to search for a CURRENT machine for sale.

Would it be possible to keep the old for sale/sold ads,
possibly in an archived/sold new folder ?

As some of us have already indicated, it is often useful
to go back to compare pics, price, dates, etc...

Of course, I am not an admin, so this is not my decision...
...Just a suggestion.

Thanks & Cheers,
- Sylvain.

Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron,
1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others.
Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for
one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!

I agree with Sylvain. This is a good idea. There have been a number of times when I've wanted to access an old FS thread of my own only to find it was gone.

I'm in with the others also on this one. Last time JD cleaned out all classifieds, members spoke up and I thought it was decided to keep all old ads since we have room. I think this should just be MAACA ads tho. I'm in full agreement to dump the craiglist etc links with days or hours even  . They don't really help with future research on local prices or where a local game went even.

My 0.02 worth and a sincere appeal to leave our LOCAL ads intact for research.

Thanks

You want to keep them? Fine... then keep them clean. But all "outside" FS threads will be deleted after 1 month.

Maybe we could separate the for sale stuff into 2 categories.  The stuff that members are selling which would remain 'pinball machines for sale' or 'member pins for sale' and then have another grouping called 'links to other pins for sale'.  The current deleting rules could probably still apply.  I don't know how much extra work it is to add categories but I would almost think it might be more beneficial and make it easier to locate 'our' stuff.

My 2 cents

5 Pins - High Speed(under repair), Diamond Lady,PinBot, STARGATE and ??????(to be announced)
1 Slot - 3 Reel
5 Vids - Golden Tee 2005, Rush the Rock x 2 linked, Area 51-Site 4, Mame(under repair), Megatouch XL
0 Time to enjoy

wish list - more room for more toys

So is the goal to keep only MAACA ads archived for reference or to keep all Canadian ads as reference ?  An ad from Vancouver isn't as useful to me as an ad from Michigan.  Just wondering what type of ads will be considered to be "outside".

IMHO, old posts can be a great source of pricing info.  (And provanace, given how frequently some pins change hands within the group.)  But, in order for those posts to be valuable, they have to contain more than a link, i.e. pix and prices.

Personally, I could care less about links someone has harvested from kiji and ebay.  If I wanted to look there, I'd run the tools myself.  Stuff that isn't online (i.e. local papers) is a different story as everyone doesn't have access.

Of course, some members may use sites like kiji and ebay for a more public sale.  Still, if the post just contains a link, then there's little reason to keep the post once the sale has been completed.

i have alot of trouble understand why keep old ads, the unit what ever it is, is gone. next owner could fix it and ask more we all persons in this hobby use the price guide as a bible when buying a machine and the experience they have in order to adjust the price of machine accordingly. the goal is to sell what you have and for someone else to buy it if it is full of stuff that is sold already new persons and regular members will not use it cause it is too difficult to find stuff. just like people who post stuff leave it there forever and forget about it not taking the simple courtasy to mention the item is gone as we have to look at this stuff manualy. its like keeping old newspapers to me i dont see the point.

I agree old ads should be kept for future buyer / seller referance. I would like to suggest to sellers that if you have a machine that was posted and sold, please edit your post stating it is sold. That would save time for us and you wouldnt get PMs for a machine that was already sold....
