I am at a friends house trying to install VP for him but the version I brought says "it is expired" when I try and launch the program.
I had this problem myself a few months ago abut someone here helped me out and pointed me to a link to a new VP install pack. I searched the forum and could not find it
Can anyone help me out.

Weird question... can the angle of the play field be changed in VP?? I only ask as the plunger in TZ cannot even get the ball up to the skill shot area. also the VUK (center) in LOTR does not get the ball all the way up into its wire-frame??
What gives there, could I have adjusted the angle by mistake?

Agreed with Loafer, everything should work right from the start from my experience. However there are a few ROMS that just dont work as-is, and they just wont start play at all.
also, a dumb question but.. are you holding the "plunger" key down long enough?

It should work by default. Ensure you are not loading a VP8 table in VP9.
I will have to check on this when I go back over in a few days.

Agreed with Loafer, everything should work right from the start from my experience. However there are a few ROMS that just dont work as-is, and they just wont start play at all.
Usually when that happens, its usually because of one of two issues:
- Sometimes, you need to reset the rom (load the table up and then press "F3", it should then work)
or
- You need an nvram of the game in question to get it to work.
I can't recall if it's gottlieb tables or whatever, but the point is there are some tables when the nvram is needed prior to launching the table for the first time and I probably have these or can get them. Send me a list of any such tables and I'll look into it.
If it's a VPM released table, then there's a way to get the game to work.
