I visited the stores myself this morning and couldnt find it anywhere but that one i got from La Baie. I cant see why the clerk will tell me its sold out if i am ready to buy one.

No way will I touch the new xbox. For several reasons:

-First of all it was hurried through production just to make sure it was out for the holiday season. Hurried = sloppy design/engineering/programming.

-It is NOT backwards compatible with xbox1 games. They said that their will be a software update (not sure if they will supply it for free or sell it yet), in a few months which will let you play the other games. But why doesn't it play the xbox1 games out of the box??! Maybe it was programmed to quickly to make sure it came out asap so they didn't bother with it.

-Selection of games (is a personal choice for games). xbox has always been big with fighter, sports and racer games, but very very weak when it came to adventure and RPG games. And I have been told there is no change in this for the xbox360 game lineup.

-They also state that it will look like it was made it go with your other entertainment equipment (tv, dvd, sound system). But hey, who the hell has anything that goes with a "white" game console. You though can "buy" different colored face plates for a reasonable fee  

-They say that xbox live comes free with the system. Yes, this is partially true. You get the XBOX Live Bronze package, but it only lets you get updates for your xbox and download "some" content. To actually play online, you will need to upgrade upto XBOX Live Gold package. The XBOX Live Gold package is approx. $82CDN+tax a year. You can not play online with the bronze package. But one good point it that if you already have XBOX Live with your xbox1, you can switch it over to your xbox360 for free.

Now I don't say these things without any experience. I own an xbox and about 8-12 xbox games.

But I would definitely wait for the PS3. The PS3 has been in development for twice as long as the xbox360, and is suppose to contain many more features and has between 3x to 5x the processing power of the xbox360, and it will be backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games right out of the box.

I say save your money and wait for the PS3. Hey even the 2 people working at the EB store where I stopped by today (to look for a new game for my PSP) said that they were waiting for the PS3, even though they could have gotten the xbox360 at an employee discount.....

Yes it is, just not the entire library.. This is pretty easy to understand, xbox 1 = x86, xbox 360 = PowerPc core. That being said xbox1 games are actually emulated. As we know emulation is not perfect.

Not true, in some aspects yes. xbox360 outperforms ps3 in many departments. Read some tech articles. Later release does not mean better hardware, remember the emotion processor sony is using was designed 3-4 years ago. You're always going to have hardcore sony fanboys who choose to hate microsoft yet they run windows, go figure?

In all fairness you have had it for a week now, how can you know for sure? How many different games have you played on it? I guess I should have written it as "Hurried production USUALLY =......."

IF I buy a PS3 I will not be reasonably sure that it runs well and was well put together until I have played it for at least a month. And to be fair, the XBOX360 was pushed through development quickly to make sure it came out for the holiday season. So naturally it makes you wonder what they might have forgotten.

Good to hear you can play some of the games. Watched CNN last night and someone from XBOX who they spoke to said that they were not backwards compatible at the moment. I guess he just meant to say that the entire library of games wasn't backwards compatible at the moment.

Actually I have read many tech specs on both the XBOX360 and PS3. The PS3 specs look better in several departments (as the XBOX360 looks better in others). I guess it is a difference of opinion.

BTW, Sony is not using the "emotion processor", they are using the Cell processor, and it has been in DEVELOPMENT for like 3 years. And as for specs, they are very hard to compare properly, as both systems were designed and run differently. Try comparing how a PC and Mac run. Both systems are different in both hardware and software used. Until someone bench-tests both systems you can't be sure.

Yup that sounds about right. What fun is a new toy if you can't tinker with it?  

Is funny to hear the official response to hacking/tinkering with a new toy like the xbox, playstation, etc "Don't do that, or you will void your warranty!!?!" Ya a warranty which is only good for like 90 days. After 90 days whatever happens (unless it is a big bug effecting a lot of systems) you are mess out of luck

Though hacking/modding an xbox or xbox360 is not good if you want to play on xbox live. If you hack/mod it, the system will tell microsoft and you will be locked out of xbox live. So be careful anyone who does it. Make sure you buy a mod which lets you turn it off when playing online

This sounds mighty similar when the original box launched and there were reports of skid loads being returned for internal heat melt down. I have got to wonder out of the percentage Microsoft states they are getting called on, how many others are not being fully reconciled since they are sitting in the box waiting for little Johnny to open it from under the tree.
