Hot off the RGP presses and confirmed by Jack.

Stern is redoing Family Guy platform as a Shrek movies series pinball - Lawler and Youssi. I haven't honestly even played a Family Guy despite the opportunity as I find that show beyond repulsive but I think this was a great marketing ploy especially to the home collector. Everybody has been saying Family Guy is a great players game. Maybe two Sterns will be coming to our house this spring

So am I to understand this is essential the same game  (layout and ruleset-wise),
but just different art-work ?

(...judging by the February release date, I'm inclined to believe so... )

This is in fact a pretty clever marketting ploy by Stern...
Re-focus the game on an entirely new target market,
increasing sales while spending virtually nothing on Design and R&D .
I guess this was the logical progression from SpiderMan to SpiderMan Black

This opens up a potentially whole new concept.., one "platform" ( = layout + ruleset)  with various
themes and artwork....

...I believe TomMy did this first with his AC/DC !

I don't think that applies, from what I read didn't Tommy make up his own rules for his conversion?

ME, if you find Family Guy repulsive, you must really, really hate Simpsons and South Park themed things then ...

YEP! I never really watched South Park before but Simpsons is not allowed on the TV in my house or many of my friends with young kids and Family Guy needs no elaboration about not being kid friendly. Maybe I'm just getting old but I don't find toilet humour funny .

...Pinball 2000 anyone?    RFM and SWE1 are pretty much interchangeable.

"Swappable" is more accurrate...

But the games are TOTALLY different; layout, ruleset, everything....  it's more like two machines sharing one cab.

What Stern is doing is using the "same" machine....

sadly, yes...all that's left is to mass produce them in chin, mexico or the philippines for pennies on the dollar and voila,
Arcade collecting can be just like shopping for junk at Wal Mart, Dollarama and the Gap! lol

I can't WAIT to get my hot little hands on a freshly sealed Paris Hilton pinball machine or a Judge Judy the Arcade game!
