So my soldering station I bought in Nov/Dec conked out....

Needless to say, I was pretty sad.
After all my tears dried, I called them up and they gave me a Return #, told me to send it back. Fair enough, sounds good to me. I now expect to just get the new or repaired soldering station returned to me, having paid for shipping in the first place, and then shipping to send it back.
Well, about a week later, I notice a refund on my credit card, which equals the soldering station value plus all shipping I paid in the first place. So I call them, because I really didn't want a refund, I wanted my soldering station back. They told me they always refund the original, then charge the new station again. Fair enough.
About a week later, I see that they've charged me for the new station, but with
no shipping. So..... they gave me back all my shipping costs. The real kicker here is that my order in the first place was larger, so shipping costs were larger than they would have been to ship one station. If you're not following along, after I sent it to them for the repair/return, they refunded me $55 USD, and then charged me $41 USD to send me a new one.
What kind of business does that? A kick-a** one, that's what kind! If you're considering dealing with an electronics manufacturer in the US, go with MCM.
