Well as you all know I was renovating my basement.
Guess what my basement got flooded because of Fridays big rain.
Do I have a crack in the foundation no.
My sewer connection with the city was blocked because of bad flow and soap built up and voila a it all backed up.
The house has a French drain system where the water around the foundation goes in a pipe and gets sent to the city pipe.
Well with all that water that fell Thursday and Friday it accumulated.
Then I went down Friday morning was fine I went to work then work 2 got home went to bed.
Then Saturday afternoon I said going to work down stairs.
I look at my work room and there a weird shine from that room.
Well I yell WTF looked for broken pipe nothing look to see for water entrance cant see.
Look at my main sewer room and it also flooded.
Well I am like ok so I get skill saw cut my sub floor to see how bad it is thank god i had that because i would have lost a bit of stuff.
So water everywhere in the house studs are all wet on the ground new drywall that i just placed in wall soaking and insulation

Then find weird cracks in my basement floor i am like thats not good.
So my neighbors had flooding due to the city flow in the sewers bad and i was schedule for a fix in the fall.
Well call the city they tell me i need a plumber to go with a camera to prove it.
No plumbers available till Sunday i said what the hell I open the main sewer to evacuate nothing it just staying in the house about 3 to 4 inches of water great.
So i said ok they find the blockage at 60 feet thats in the city. pipe fix it and voila.
Guy said to me i was extremely lucky????
I like why he said you have a French pipe system around the house to drain extra water.
Ok thats cool i said he said your dam lucky Gatineau is a clay town.
I am like why he said there is about 100 to 300 gallons of water under your house

Said my house could have slide i thought he was joking then explained with all that water it came under Neath the foundation and cracked the floor thats why all the waters is there.
I almost mess myself then he explained that its unblocked and said house will drain for maybe a day or 2 how much water you had

So i am relieved then i get a 529.86$ bill for the work i almost passed out.
The city will pay it back but thats allot to take in now tomorrow insurance company has to come over because all my sub floor is ruined to sewer water and all my lower 2x4 in the basement.
So my Reno was half done then this happens.
The good things is insurance will pay and get a contractor to do it.
Seriously Thats fine because after this i am depressed not only does that make it bad for the house but had to rent a storage so i can store my hole basement in it.
