Well, after a ton of rain, mostly all this weekend was ruined. Plus I was licking my wounds after missing Sparky's Silverball Mania sale... This morning I had this bright idea...
I don't usually post this kind of stuff, but it looked pretty good, so I had to share....
Headlights, tailights and a interior light all work when the "Move Your Car!" feature is activated. I just couldn't see spending big bucks for this mod, so I made it myself, plus I got to pick the 50's ( well 49' ) car of MY choice. I'm pretty happy with how it works and it looks original to the game.
and to think all I did was frame up a 2500 SqFt additon to my buddies house during this same time....
Nice work. I like mods that have lights integrated with the game. This one makes perfect sense. Headlights on during a drive-in movie would definitely have you yelling "Move your car" as well as many other curses.
"licking" "mounds" sounds kind of perverted. I assume there is a typing error there or is there something more you wish to elaborate on?
Looks great and really like the flame job on the car you selected! I mean if you're going to dress it up..... Would love to have some more details. Car scale, electornic info in terms of LED's resistors needed, etc.
Do like me... after selling pins at rock-bottom prices, I go on a business trip, and get a hotel which has a "manager's hour" which is free drinks and snacks from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
Yeah, that was a typo, Glen! Licking my WOUNDS, not MOUNDS!!!! Just because I can't believe I missed the boat on SBM.
As for the car hook up, it's pretty slick, top secret stuff ha, ha ( sorry Monkeybug! ). I used a molex type connector under the playfield to make removal a sinch. The car is a die-cast 1:43 scale. All that was required was some LEDs ( water clear white for the head lights, red for the tailights, and green for the interior light - use at least 8000MCD ) a few 4001 diodes and 100 ohm 1/2 watt resistors are always your friend when using ANY LED mod. I made the little metal mounting bracket out of scrap metal I had hanging around and used some black shrink wrap to make it look neat. The shrink wrap also hides the wires somewhat on the mount. There was a screw already in the car bottom that was used, and I found another longer screw for the playfield mount, using the same screw hole as well. I added a clear PTEG washer and presto!
I didn't like the look of the mod available online ( plus it cost between $69-$75 USD ). A pink 1955 Crown Victoria wound never look as good as this red 49' Mercury... and the flames go without saying... I'm thinking about making another of these using a 57' Chevy Bel-Air next. That should be the bomb!
Crazy and Duke, you guys can stop by any time to check it out!
