I can bring 1 or 2 games, too - somehow. Our family starts getting busy with kids commitments around this time - but I can surely lug a machine there & back and trust someone to look over it if I'm not around.
I'll be there if there is a Tournament of some kind with WPR points and cash prize payouts.
I'm looking at buying a truck right now, which if I do I might bring a game with me as well.
Hey Adam,
the prize will be the tournament entry purse and I'm looking into sponsers right now. It won't be a big tourney so if you're planning on winning $1000 or a new machine, it won't be what your used to. We're billing it as an art show so we get support from the university and get a liquor licence. It's more about fun this year, and if successful, bigger and better next year. I'm sure you know how it goes. P.s. WPR points?
Currently own: Bram Stokers Dracula Doctor Who Strange science Arkanoid coctail table. Someday: STTNG, TZ, IJ, CFTBL, LOTR
Gone, but not forgotten: Shadow Gorgar Blackout Genesis

No it won't.
That's illegal in Ontario, you have to have set prize pools, they are not allowed to fluctuate based on money taken in, it's considered gambling at that point.
It's why the Canadian Championship has set prize pools and why the Toronto Championship had set prize pools.
Not saying you are going to get caught if you do it that way, but do you really want to deal with the consequences if you do? I know I sure didn't.

And this is why I said you should talk to Adam
Have
Want
-The Getaway: High Speed II!! -Spider-Man -F-14 Tomcat -Guns N' Roses -Lord of the Rings -Twilight Zone
-Medieval Madness! -Indiana Jones (Williams) -Star Trek: The Next Generation -Champion Pub -Terminator 3 -Congo -Johnny Mnemonic -Tales of the Arabian Nights
So fix it low for the first year as you are assuming a low profile and then you can guage interest. Keep the entry fees low as well and then you won't get taken to the cleaners and no one can claim your in it to make money (and I am definitely not implying that anyone runs a tournament to make money as I know that most if not all lose money so no dig is intended). You won't get people travelling for the tourney but I think that would be okay as this is the first year and you need to figure your audience out.

I have a meeting with the university curator next week and we'll discuss sponsers for the prizes. It may have to be a few hundred bucks and whatever gets donated. We'll see, it's still early. I'll definatly contribute personally to the prize and I'm thinking of getting a trophy done up. But please remember, this is first and formost a pinball show, it's purpose (being on campus) Is to draw a crowd of non-collectors and put the spotlight on pinball for the younger group. The tourny is the icing on the cake for the die-hards and a social event for the local maaca community.

Well as long as there are some WPR points I'll be there. You can work on getting them your self if you like just got to http://www.pinballrankings.com and talk to Josh about getting sanctioned. Really the only requirement is that the tournament is open and not restricted.

Cool, and thanks for the info, I have alot of experience in show promotion but nil in tournament. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'll likely be PMing you with questions along the road. I'll try and get sanctioned as soon as I have the contract.
