Hey all,

I was just curious... CPR states that the Mermaid playfield run is a private run, meaning that 1 collector is buying 1 lot of them, most probably representing a bunch of people. I was curious (if anyone knows as I don<t want to bother Kevin or Mike as they are probably VERY busy) as to how many pfs are needed to be made as a minimum and what is the cost?

I ask because I am pretty sure that some group members would like to see a specific pin playfield be remade, and maybe some would pitch in to have one made. Of course, it would have to be a pin that some have or want... and are willing to pay.

i'm pretty shure that 60% of the overall cost involved deals with reproducing the artwork.. cutting the wood, screenprinting & clearing is a small fixed price.. it doesn't change between production runs.. i'm going to guestimate

a)  if they start with existing artwork/films, i bet it still costs them roughly 1K to produce the screens need.
b) If they start from scratch  like on Fathom) where i think they said it took 200+ hours on artwork, it's gotta be at least $4K.
That's assuming there's a nut willing to work cheap @$10 an hour for the love of pinball instead of getting $25 an hour.

so i hazard a guess that the minimum cost  is what the mermaid run is: overhead to produce art, the one day labour to cut, assemble and clear 25 playfields + a small percentage to cover the equipment purchased that makes such efficiency possible.

I don't know what the minimum would be but depending on what playfield I'd be in for doing something like this.

I guess this ties in with Steph's post on ownership. If 20 members own a Xenon or something like that and are willing to spend 6-700$... why not.
