Everyone also forgot the most important selling feature.......

Necro owns one so that makes the game AWSOME!!

Stick to the Doh Doh Doh's! and you'll do fine.

I buy what I like. Need I say more?

I like Tommy too and don't own that for the record.

Theme yes, but also execution. Gn'R was well done. From the gun and rose shooters to the ramps, cab, translite, music etc. etc. they did a good job of staying with the theme and not making it dorky in the process.

KISS and Rolling Stones I don't enjoy playing but Gn'R gets played and is most popular for casual players I have come over. KISS and RS also do not have the mutli level rules based play that is currently what most of the collectors are gravitating to. They also don't have the hardware to play the bands music, again a big + for a Gn'R and seems to me would be the logical thing to expect from a game based on music. It's also often considered the best playing DE out there.

I doubt your going to see another band theme game in the near future looking at the current music scene (other than ToMMy's creations). Gn'R may have been the last hoorah.

Correction... RS plays a riff from Satisfaction when you drain in an outlane and finish a game. But yes, both Kiss and RS are very simple, so you can't really compare them to GnR. Not really fair.

Whats the going rate now for a nice one???

I guess they are 3k+ now for a decent game.

Well Slash apparently had some say in the game design.  And he is a pinball player (he mentioned it in his book).  Pingame Journal had a good article on this game.  And apparently AXL was a real 'treat' to work with, according to the designers.

I was really just trying to compare themes.  It would be unfair to judge an early SS to a modern games.  I guess if you wanted to compare some modern games that also hold their value (partially) because of theme, I can think of CFTBL, DE Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Wasn't there a poll on the Stern Myspace page about a Led Zeppelin, Ramones or [cant remember] theme?  I keep hearing rumours that Led Zeppelin may be an option.

On that last comment. I owned a Camelot too. Did I ever give a rave review on that game?

So at what point are we not able to comment on things in this hobby we own and enjoy? Yes, I give my point of view from an owners perspective. i.e. does it have staying power, do you have pride of ownership blah blah blah as opposed to the "I saw one once that the left flipper didn't work, the DMD was burned out and it smelled like a rotten pizza" review. I guess I missed reading that in the forum instructions.

So I guess that a Rihanna or a Justin Timberlake pinball is out of the question. Damn.

I guess we forget that in the 70's and early 80's, pinball was HUGE. Music artists then thought it was a very cool thing to have a pinball machine in your name. Today, they probably don't give a rat's a**. They rather see their music on Guitar Hero or Rockband.

I was surprised I didn't see one on Indy500.

Was Maaca around when you had your Camelot?

And with Aerosmith, before that, there was Revolution X. But never a pinball. And never will be. I think a Led Zep pin is also a pipe dream. It will never happen. What would Led Zep gain from it anyways... they would make a shitload more touring again.

I'd love a pinball machine based on me. I could have two ramps, one for each parent, other shots named after different friends, and a wizard mode dedicated to my wife. That's kinda what GnR is like, but for Slash (and the music is awesome).

I was surprised I didn't see one on Indy500.

I did one. In fact I took video since the machine is so uncommon. I really liked it too, but I wanted an RFM as well and there is always the space issues. In the end I sold it to a guy I work with who asked me for a year to sell him a game. Ultimately I chose it to sell because it was a family friendly game, super nice shape and ultra reliable. That's probably the reason for keeping most games but in my case it was the reason for selling it. I wanted this guy to get something good without selling him a game for 3 or 4 grand.

Was Maaca around when you had your Camelot?

It most certainly was. It was in an early post of gameroom before the basement was finished. Not the current thread. Later I posted some pics of the game itself. http://archive.maaca.org/s107351202.onlinehome.us/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?m-1164583485/s-all/
Not too much raving going on there. Maybe some reflecting, but no raving.

FOUND. For those interested, $2,700 USD. Not for me.

BTW, there will be at least 4 GnR for sale at Expo for this price.
