I have a segment out on a stern 6digit SS board that I am trying to fix and my manual says that The 1k 1/4 watt resister could be the problem but I only have some 1.2k 1/4watt resistors here,Will these work ok?

I think that they should work in a pinch, but it is always preferable to replace with the original part value.

However, in my experience, Bally/Stern displays more often burn 100K or 300K resistors...
You can use a digital multimeter to measure resistor values on the displays
(while the display is removed from the game), it is very easy to identify opened/burned resistors.

As usual, always power the machine off before connecting or disconnecting boards and displays...
