What for? If it's like my neighbourhood you can connect to three other neighbours that have no security at any given time. Talk about free internet service, you don't even need your own router.

I am starting to wonder why I pay Rogers for internet services? I should log on and lock them out of their own router. Lets see 192.168.1.1 login admin pass admin. Filter MAC address to mine.... that should do it.

I hear ya... I was amazed of this when someone (you know who you are!!!     ) showed me this for the first time. He stated that he could use his laptop and simply drive on ANY street in Montreal and log onto the web through an unsecured router.

But I think that the problem lies with lack of information... if you sell a router to someone but neglect to tell them about the security measures to be taken, it kinda makes it easy for the people that have somewhat bad intentions.

Hey Necro... is that why the cops are always arresting your neighbors for illegal porn and music downloads?

Retiring soon...

Yep same here..  2 weeks ago my DSL service went down.  The family was suffering severe withdrawal

Frosken reminded me to try for open wireless and lo and behold I was able to connect immediately   lol

Of course with the appropriate software you can break 128 bit encryption in less than 24 hours of "listening" so is your setup really secure anyway?
