I have bought from Oribt and ClassicArcades (Jeff Macafee).  Orbit protectors have never broke.  Wish I could say the same for the other one.

Some learning material for me, and don't you laugh!

What are, and what are the purpose of these pieces in the videos?

Are they to keep playfield parts/decorations from getting damaged by the balls?

P.S. I do lots of reading and not much talking here.

Plastic protectors are placed underneath the slingshots to protect the slingshot plastic from breaking. You must have seen broken slingshot plastics right? Well, these will absorb the impact of the ball in order to protect the plastics. You can also use metal washers, but some people don't like the look of them.

Not to mention that metal washers ding the ball which will result in more damage to the playfield surface eventually.

Are the plastic protectors sold by Orbit Pinball acrylic or are they made of something else.  I could not find anything on their site that indicates what they are made of.  Then again it is Sunday morning and I could still very well be asleep.

I wonder how well Lexan cuts with a hole saw? I ask because Lexan can be bought at Home Depot. It is not cheep, but 1 piece would likely do EVERY pinball you ever own.
