Ah no I would never ever do that. There are some stupid shortcuts there. The board part and playfield hell no. If i was to clean the boards i do them one by one and dry them both sides. The playfield could warp once it dries the solvent he used on it should not be used ect. But hey what do i know. |

Yea I was going to say, that stuff looked like mean green, I would never put that on a PF, that and the fact that he sprayed down the entore PF with a garden hose. No thanks, do it right or don't do it at all I allways say, it may be working now but god knows what the water might do down the line. |

Just plain stupid in my opinion. Was this video produced by Gaucho Pinball in Argentina? Sure seems like something they would do. |

Some interesting ideas but also some shortcuts. Why hose down the head, and then remove the boards for repair later? Why hose down the front of the playfield, then novous it later? (but it did trickle a lot of dirt off). I also see they were using the Vengeance-air-compress-desolder method. Their website: http://petacos.com/ |

I like that method Why is there something wrong with it? |

Intersting the concept of restoring / refurbishing a pinball as a team of 5 friends rather than doing it alone. |

... and doing it in record time. Usually, restores tend to take people a long time, RL is important but with friends working on different parts at the same time, pretty impressive time-wise anyway. |

It's the way I do it as well, when it isn't too critical, and the old solder is being fussy. |

Yeah. Where are the other 6 or 7 guys helping when I do it? I loved the three man solder job Dishwasher ok. Boards wet fine there is nothing on these particular boards that will be adversly affected as long as they are dried out. Harness no prob. Wood wet.... hello? Paint components like the coin door without tearing right down? Clean up leg levellers? I think I paid a buck a piece the last time I bought them. As for the pf I pull out the light boards and they go in the dishwasher too. The game really could have used cab art which is available for HSII. It was faded to begin with and with all the filling and touching up it was time to cut your loses on the artwork and redo it IMHO. The other thing is they never reproduced any of the labels they destroyed. Lamp matrix chart, HV warning etc. Anyway I think there aim was to get this done in a certain amount of time so they made some decisions early on as to how far they would go with it and spending the least amount of money on the restoration. As to the group thing though my concern is not seeing everything come apart if you got snagged up on something and the guy that took it apart wasn't available when you were putting it back together. I would probably divide the responsibilities. One guy head, one guy lower cab, two guys pf. one guy boards etc. at least this way when it came to the pf you wouldn't get mixed up. |

Aren't you afraid some solder will fly around and get stuck somewhere else on the PCB and potentially cause shorts ? Airborne solder near delicate electronics doesn't seem wise to me.. ...but what do I know... ? Steph |
