A heads-up to all of you. I am a new member and I just recently purchased a Dog Fight on EBay from the Electromechanicalguy. His name is Stephen xxxxx . Some of you older members are probably aware of this guy, if not, go to Mr. Pinball's Blacklist at http://www.xmission.com and you will find the reviews.... I got it big time!
As I am just beginning in this hobby and was enjoying myself, meeting such a character is offensive and discouraging when it's supposed to be an enjoyable hobby.
-The Getaway: High Speed II!! -Spider-Man -F-14 Tomcat -Guns N' Roses -Lord of the Rings -Twilight Zone
-Medieval Madness! -Indiana Jones (Williams) -Star Trek: The Next Generation -Champion Pub -Terminator 3 -Congo -Johnny Mnemonic -Tales of the Arabian Nights
You say you purchased a game? Did you get it? Did you not get it? Was there something wrong with your transaction? Would help if you explained a little.

I met someone and got part of a machine!!! Who was that someone, we can only imagine? From what I understand, he goes by many different alias - quote from Mr. Pinbal; take it from there.
For everyone's sake, please clarify about what happened. This guy was also selling a Pinbot, and I wrote to see where he was (just listed as 'ONtario') and he invited me to come out, play it, see it, etc... I never took him up on the offer (he was in Burlington) but he seemed fine with inspection.
So did you show up money in hand and get something entirely different than you bid on? If so, did you just pay him and leave? I've heard he's sort of a 'bully' or intimidating when it comes to the final purchase. Or did he already have your money through paypal?
Thanks for sharing this, really sorry it happened to you.

I hope I one day get to meet this con artist bully, I'll put him in his place for the rest of you.

About a year ago, I was also invited to come out to look at one of his machines. He gave me the address and a time, but he never answered the door, even though a vehicle was in the driveway. He later said that I had written down the address wrong, but that was a load. It is hard to predict what this guy is planning on doing. Perhaps he invites you out and then sizes you up through his blinds and decides whether or not you are scam-worthy. I thought I was perfectly "scam-worthy" last year, so he missed a prime target.
So the point is, just because a guy is willing to meet you, doesn't mean the scam isn't afoot.

The pen may be mightier than the sword, however, the sword enforces the rule of the pen!

O.K. guys, this is what went down. I waited until I heard back from EBay; since my conversation with them, he's since removed his adds and is no longer a member under that alias.
As for my purchase, I won the bid on EBay and as per my contact with the seller to arrange pick up, I mentioned to him that I am quite busy, could he be flexible on pick up. His reply was that I had seven days to pick up the machine and bring cash, cash only. I asked him about the machine briefly, he said it was in absolutely great working order, no problems at all with the machine. Knowing this, I drove 11 hours round trip to pickup the machine as I had to work the next day. The red flags went up when I asked him for a contact number and he refused to give me a number. I know I made a few mistakes on this purchase, I am not doubting that, if I could redo it, I would do some things differently. Nevertheless, I contacted him half way there, and told him that I would be there between 8 and 9 p.m.; he said he could not meet with me, but his brother-in-law would, who happened to be a very nice guy. He then told me that the machine was absolutely perfect and ready to go. Keep in mind if he would have sold it "as is", we would not be having this conversation.
The fact is he was on EBay promoting it as being in perfect working condition. When I got there, the machine was sitting outside the garage, **this is where I made my biggest mistake** I asked him to plug in the machine to his convenience there was no power so by not taking the time to go through the machine, I figured that possibly there would be one or two things to deal with when I got home. It was late at night and I still had a 5.5 hour road trip ahead of me so I paid in full and loaded the machine.
The following day, I inspected the machine, low and behold, his add indicated that it was inspected by a TECHNICIAN;' there was no sound board in the machine, there was no speaker, the graphic fluroscent art work in the bottom of the machine was missing, it would not fire up because of the coin relay, the slide pin on the gun was not there, so that meant that they never shot the gun, there were alot of other smaller things that were not working but not necessarily an issue; however, how did it past an inspection; go figure.
When I contacted him he was very defensive and personnally attacked me for advancing that the machine was not what he stipulated in his add. I tried to work things out with him by asking that he at least locate/provide the sound board. He replied that he had a sound board, so I agreed, but when I realized it was not the proper sound board for this machine, the falsified Ebay advertisement and every other issue I kept coming upon, I said I had enough of you. That is when I read an add on Mr. Pinball and decided you should all know about this guy instead of brushing everything off under the table.
Upon speaking to numerous other members, I was advised to inform the members about this individual. I know I am new at this, my intentions were strictly honorable, I just want to complete a reck room. Unfortunately there are scammers in every aspect of life and he was just one I met on this trip.
Needless to say everyone I have been so far have been great and sincere.
Good luck to all of you and thanks for your concern.
