Sure that's fine. But what's with other people posting here implying that anyone who buys an ipad is a mindless fanboy? It's very snobbish.

Some people like gadgets, some people like muscle cars, and some people like pinball machines. The only thing we all have in common is that we all like pinball machines. Can't we allow others to have other interests too? You don't see me making fun of people for spending hundreds of dollars to stick a payphone in their basement or for buying over powered gas guzzling muscle cars. To each their own.

Not the same. Much more clumsy to use, has to almost always be plugged in, has a huge footprint. iPad is much better than a laptop. I also don't own a laptop (just a netbook).

Cool....Hey, if you like it, rock on! It would be much better at a cottage then a laptop. Although, Its so much like a magazine, Id be tempted to smack mosquito's with it. Don't have that temptation with a laptop

That ridiculous keyboard thing that allows you type 60 WPM+ is just foolish. Doing away with it for an Etch-a-Sketch interface is a far better idea.

Never implied that at all, and I'm glad you're happy with it.  In fact, I think Apple makes very nice products.  BUT, you have to admit.. they sell a mess load of products based on "coolness factor" alone.  I'm betting a lot of those iPads that have been sold will only come out when a guest is over so the happy new owner can show them how cool they are.

BTW, last night on my useless laptop I downloaded a torrent of a Lost episode, and streamed it to my Xbox 360 wirelessly.  Take THAT, iPad user.

I'm aware the iPad is a cool thing. I'm also aware of how people like you see it. It's for that reason that I'm afraid to use it in public. I don't want people to pay attention to me or think I'm some kind of hipster. That's the opposite of what I want. I bought the product because, *gasp*, I like it. Eventually the iPad and other products like it will be commonplace so I won't feel weird using it. It's what happened to the iPod.

BTW, I'm not totally Apple un-tainted, I'm typing this from G5 and have a MacBook Pro and iPod Touch at home.  Actually the touch was a great little product.. having a wi-fi accessible MP3 player was a great idea, and I take it with me on trips often.

That being said, all the Apple products I user are 3+ years old and *gasp* still work perfectly fine.

Everyone that I know that has bought one also bought one "for the right reason". I can't see someone buying a $500+ gadget to look cool. That's what clothes and cars are for.
