It's not quite as awe-inspiring as Aljo's cross-continent trek to pick-up his Joust pin,
but my up-coming trip to Toronto for the Playdium show has enough stops to warrant a detailed itinerary...

I'm meeting many folks along the way and transporting alot of stuff...

of what the layout will be.

I'm "assuming" there will be an obvious entrance to the auction.

and since I "had" to empty out the garage before the winter,
this tournament in T.O. was just the excuse I needed

Technically, no one has ever been to an auction here.  So hard to say for sure how the layout will be.

And yeah... a classic Stern for so cheap... even in my current financial state, I would have jumped on that!!! I would repaint that backbox in a jiffy... great buy!!!

It's hardly complete, mind you. Mis-matched body and head. No backglass. No boards or displays, etc. It's definitely a project.   Fortunately, I've managed to track down a lone head and backglass to match (Yeah, that's right. Needle in a haystack, or what?). And I already have the boards I need. Quicksilver will live again.

Double-layered 3/4" particle board all-around baby !
That thing is a tank !

...and you're lucky..., yours had the lower back corners cut off
to make it easier to tip backwards. Mine had the square corners
and it takes two people just to lean it backwards !


btw... my wife thanks you for getting that beast out of the garage...

Technically yes but not really. I only arranged it for an acquaintance/friend who really wanted a Defender due to playing it in the arcade all the time in her youth. She mentioned it about a year ago so when Steel put this one up, I told her and she bought it. I owe a huge thanks to Steel and Steph as without them willing to deliver it, it never would have happened.

Now I have another business aquaintance that wants a High Speed sys 11 pinball - needs to be nice and fully working - anybody????

That game was definitely a project but the cabinet and playfield were nice and the power supply looked in good shape too. Plus the manual and instruction cards were in there.
I do have more like that but not necessarily as cheap or missing as many parts.

Hey!  It was nice to finally meet Steph face to face!  Thanks for dropping everything off today!

Day 1 successful so far !

Met Blaine and Daniel in Peterborough.
Can't wait to see what Blaine and his class will do with the Joust cocktail vid
... however long it takes !  

Hooked-up with Dan and played his awesome game collection.
Necro, Squid, Vengeance and Sparky showed-up too.

Looking forward to meeting the other folks at Playdium on Saturday.

Delivered all goods, picked-up all items,
.... and didn't lose any piece along the way

(...I just hope people got the right machines ! )  

It was a blast to see everyone and finally put a fact to the names.

I must have met about 20 MAACA/TOPL folks while I was there.

BIG BIG thanks to Dan (BallyBoy) for hosting his party on Friday night
and letting me stay at his place overnight.

Being at an auction with 400 games and knowing
that bringing anything back home will lead to an immediate be-heading

Spending over an hour at U-haul returning the damn trailer
... and then being "trapped" in the parking lot as moron upon moron
returned their rented trucks and left them right and the entrance
causing a massive clutter.  I basically had to drive across their front lawn,
and down the sidewalk to get out...

But I'm home safely and all is good !
