Turned my TZ on over weekend and left it on for maybe 10 minutes then went to bathroom..
When i came back, the feature lights were not blinking anymore, they were ALL on... i started a game to see whats up and the auto-plunger gate opened and the coil started to try to fire a ball (opto not getting 12v is probably making the game thinks that there is a ball there from what i have read). I turned it off...
When i turned it back on, i had that message on the display: "Check fuses F115 and F116, J112 and opto 12v supply". did some research and found lots of info (especially on pinrepair.com http://www.pinrepair.com/wpc/index1.htm#f114f115 i cant even use the diagnostic buttons anymore, they wont work.. start button does start a game thou but with the auto-plunger going wacko.
Anyone ever had the same issue happened and how did you fix it ? I will follow what the guide says but maybe someone did have the same issue before and can point me to a more specific part (opto or problematic connector/switch) that can cause the short..
Both fuses are testing good btw (yes, i took them out to test em) i will test the power output on the board eventually (busy with the kids lately) and the rest of the pinrepair suggested solutions.
Thanks for any inputs.

Switch #24 wouldn't be impacted by any LM339's. Plus, you said all insert lamps stop blinking? This is the lamp matrix too. Check the ribbon cable between the CPU and power driver board and reseat. Also check for acid damage on the CPU board.
Well I would start by getting the direct switch rows working so you can use the diagnostics, it appears these chips (U16 & U17) may have shorted out. Are the batteries old did they leak? Check the LM 339 chips at U16 and U17 (CPU board - below and in close proximity to the batteries - to the left). You can test the LM 339 chips in circuit - machine off, against ground and you will get a regular pattern somewhat similar to testing transistors - compare against a good LM 339 in circuit with a DM if you're not sure what readings you should get. Don't forget to use I.C. sockets or pinstrips when replacing chips.
Thanks for the tips guys, i havent got to testing the cpu board yet (busy life )
I did some 12v testing thou and apparently, there is 12v power at these switches and optos. Also all the test points on the power driver board reads the correct value.
Replacing chips on the cpu seems a little too much for my skills but i will look into it (or send the board to someone..).
I can start a game and flippers are working, however the ball sensor opto in the shooter lane is'nt working so it's constantly trying to fire a non-existent ball...
U16, U17 and also i read maybe U20 on Marvin.. i better learn how to solder. Are these chips widely availables in electronic stores or do i have to order from GPE ?
Oh btw, i tried reseating the ribbon cable between cpu and power driver but it didnt work. Could the cable be bad ? I'll try with the one from my IJ..

Yes it will boot but can do weird mess.. Swap the ROM. It's just 1 chip. Be careful to not bend the pins..

Definitely on the cpu board, swapped with the one in my IJ and it's working perfectly !
Time to learn how to change chips !!
Carefully check with a magnifyging glass. I had one that had a battery leak at some point before I got my hands on it and it had corroded BEHIND a socket.. Could only see it with a magnifying glass.. One broken trace was screwing up the feature lights.
