A heads-up to all of you. I am a new member and I just recently purchased a Dog Fight on EBay from the Electromechanicalguy. His name is Stephen xxxxx . Some of you older members are probably aware of this guy, if not, go to Mr. Pinball's Blacklist at http://www.xmission.com and you will find the reviews.... I got it big time!
As I am just beginning in this hobby and was enjoying myself, meeting such a character is offensive and discouraging when it's supposed to be an enjoyable hobby.
-The Getaway: High Speed II!! -Spider-Man -F-14 Tomcat -Guns N' Roses -Lord of the Rings -Twilight Zone
-Medieval Madness! -Indiana Jones (Williams) -Star Trek: The Next Generation -Champion Pub -Terminator 3 -Congo -Johnny Mnemonic -Tales of the Arabian Nights
You say you purchased a game? Did you get it? Did you not get it? Was there something wrong with your transaction? Would help if you explained a little.

I met someone and got part of a machine!!! Who was that someone, we can only imagine? From what I understand, he goes by many different alias - quote from Mr. Pinbal; take it from there.
For everyone's sake, please clarify about what happened. This guy was also selling a Pinbot, and I wrote to see where he was (just listed as 'ONtario') and he invited me to come out, play it, see it, etc... I never took him up on the offer (he was in Burlington) but he seemed fine with inspection.
So did you show up money in hand and get something entirely different than you bid on? If so, did you just pay him and leave? I've heard he's sort of a 'bully' or intimidating when it comes to the final purchase. Or did he already have your money through paypal?
Thanks for sharing this, really sorry it happened to you.

I hope I one day get to meet this con artist bully, I'll put him in his place for the rest of you.

About a year ago, I was also invited to come out to look at one of his machines. He gave me the address and a time, but he never answered the door, even though a vehicle was in the driveway. He later said that I had written down the address wrong, but that was a load. It is hard to predict what this guy is planning on doing. Perhaps he invites you out and then sizes you up through his blinds and decides whether or not you are scam-worthy. I thought I was perfectly "scam-worthy" last year, so he missed a prime target.
So the point is, just because a guy is willing to meet you, doesn't mean the scam isn't afoot.
I hope I one day get to meet this con artist bully, I'll put him in his place for the rest of you.

O.K. guys, this is what went down. I waited until I heard back from EBay; since my conversation with them, he's since removed his adds and is no longer a member under that alias.
As for my purchase, I won the bid on EBay and as per my contact with the seller to arrange pick up, I mentioned to him that I am quite busy, could he be flexible on pick up. His reply was that I had seven days to pick up the machine and bring cash, cash only. I asked him about the machine briefly, he said it was in absolutely great working order, no problems at all with the machine. Knowing this, I drove 11 hours round trip to pickup the machine as I had to work the next day. The red flags went up when I asked him for a contact number and he refused to give me a number. I know I made a few mistakes on this purchase, I am not doubting that, if I could redo it, I would do some things differently. Nevertheless, I contacted him half way there, and told him that I would be there between 8 and 9 p.m.; he said he could not meet with me, but his brother-in-law would, who happened to be a very nice guy. He then told me that the machine was absolutely perfect and ready to go. Keep in mind if he would have sold it "as is", we would not be having this conversation.
The fact is he was on EBay promoting it as being in perfect working condition. When I got there, the machine was sitting outside the garage, **this is where I made my biggest mistake** I asked him to plug in the machine to his convenience there was no power so by not taking the time to go through the machine, I figured that possibly there would be one or two things to deal with when I got home. It was late at night and I still had a 5.5 hour road trip ahead of me so I paid in full and loaded the machine.
The following day, I inspected the machine, low and behold, his add indicated that it was inspected by a TECHNICIAN;' there was no sound board in the machine, there was no speaker, the graphic fluroscent art work in the bottom of the machine was missing, it would not fire up because of the coin relay, the slide pin on the gun was not there, so that meant that they never shot the gun, there were alot of other smaller things that were not working but not necessarily an issue; however, how did it past an inspection; go figure.
When I contacted him he was very defensive and personnally attacked me for advancing that the machine was not what he stipulated in his add. I tried to work things out with him by asking that he at least locate/provide the sound board. He replied that he had a sound board, so I agreed, but when I realized it was not the proper sound board for this machine, the falsified Ebay advertisement and every other issue I kept coming upon, I said I had enough of you. That is when I read an add on Mr. Pinball and decided you should all know about this guy instead of brushing everything off under the table.
Upon speaking to numerous other members, I was advised to inform the members about this individual. I know I am new at this, my intentions were strictly honorable, I just want to complete a reck room. Unfortunately there are scammers in every aspect of life and he was just one I met on this trip.
Needless to say everyone I have been so far have been great and sincere.
Good luck to all of you and thanks for your concern.
I'd like to provide you with the exact link unfortunately it has been removed from EBay. The only thing I have is the listing number, and here it is: 270389909486.
By the way, if any of you happen to know where I can obtain parts for this machine, please share, I keep hitting dead ends.

I got screwed over 250$ for a freaking empty cabinet recently , the guy told me it was solid in good condition , man we exchanged 90 to 100 emails! doesn't make sens, i REALLY wanted to be sure it was the cab ive been looking for 6 yrs ,the seller told me he could bring it for a fee.. he lived at 2 hrs from me. the cabs arrives here , looks ruff but i was in a hurry ,didn't have time really to check it , i just put it inside the garage... make the deal , he goes off,
hours later ... i inspect it , the cab is rotten head to toe , the wood is cracked all over , and literally falling appart (i even got pics to show) the cracks were so deep.... that it bent both sides of the cab & front.
it took me nearly 1 month to get only 80$ back..(bleh a mess load of ****)if you ask me. i guess we have to learn the hard way in this hobby sometimes. it happens once twice then you learn to live with it & you develop a 6 sens for those guys!
what pisses me off with those guys , is that they are allowed to post on kijiji & ebay & everywhere else and they will bite someone else. ah well. liar one day liar everyday

Was this in Burlington??? or somewhere else. Do you have the address as it may be helpful for the rest of us to watch out for. Maybe we should start helping other members out by briefly looking over machines that maybe local to us but really far for them. I might not know much about pins and vids but I'm fairly sure I could tell someone if everything worked, if it is more or less as described, and if it's worth making the trip down. I know most of us have really busy lives but I think someone in the Burlington(or where ever)area could have had a 5 minute look and could have told sky when he came down to plan on spending more time checking over the quite apparent flaws and haggling the price WAY down. It might have even saved him driving 11 hours as he might have gotten out of the deal. Just a thought. I know, I opened up a whole can of worms. Guys are going to say they don't want to be responsible for someone else's purchase, blah, blah, blah. I never said take responsibility, just a quick look and test to see if it is MOST LIKELY as described. That's all.

Sorry about your luck, I was also bidding on that, and was quite disappointed when I lost. I have been lucky I guess, and met nothing but good people on here, who delivered as promised. Hold your breath for a while, a good deal in the future will erase any pain this prick caused you.

i live in Burlington and thankfully have not met this scammer, thank God! Just like Underachiever said, if someone from out of town wants to save an 11 hour trip and ask if one of us local guys can take a look, I will offer my time (within reason because I still have a day job). There are plenty of us in the area I am sure with different areas of expertise but for the record I am not speaking on anyone else's behalf, just offering my time where possible.

Inverness Ave Hamilton...in the garage. Thats him! He later said he rents the garage and doesnt live there.
B bought 2 machines (my first 2) from this guy thru Kijiji last year. The Dragon had a lot of issues, when I got it home. The Hight Hand was royally screwed up, the score would not reset, specials did not come on when it was supposed to, etc etc. Also, when I did the deal he showed me he had the manual for the High Hand. I paid him and his buddy $100.00 to deliver to Thornhill and voluntarily paid him an extra $25 so he could use the 407 and avoid the 401.
Anyway, after he delivered (and toid me he was an electrical engineer, yada yada yada bullshit), we spoke a while and I wound up giving him a whole bunch off stuff I was clearing out that was in my garage...he was more than happy to take it. Some things had some value to them.
When I realized the High Hand wouldnt reset the score after and that he forgot to give me the manual he did everything to avoid me. I even had to *67 to get him to answer. I go to Hamilton regularly and told him I will pick up the manual but he did everything to avoid giving it until I finally wrote it off.
Not very cool! Tall heavy set guy light brown hair and glasses. Saw warnings about someone who fits the description on Kijiji recently.
