This is more venting on my part , but I'm curious to hear what people would do...
Basically, As many of you know, I exceeded the space in my game room many years ago, and have been "parking" extra games at various friend's houses.
I currently have 5 games in other people's houses. (Defender at Newf112, TZ at SpaceCadet's, Robo Cocktail at my in-laws, Joust ct vid at Bish's, and PP2 at neighbor's ).
I also have two 2 vids in the garage, a Duramold cab in the shed, and a Chexx in the Laundry room. All of which go against the "treaty" I agreed to with my wife to ONLY have games in the games room....
My hope is to one day have more space in the house for the games, but that dream is fading fast as financial realities would rule that out for at least 10+ years... !
So do I thin out the herd, or hang on to the games "on location" , hoping I'll bring them back home one day ?
This topic came to a head last night when I made the mistake of telling my wife that someone on this board was willing to Pay $3500-$4500 for a nice TZ.
To which she fumed that I had a $4500 machine sitting in someone else's basement and that I'll likely never play it again... ( we could use that cash too... )
The problem is that I'm pretty sure I'd have seller's remorse if I sold any of those games, and would likely have a hard time finding replacements which are as nice. (...and it would probably cost me more to do so... )

Thoughts?
Steph
Hey Steph,
I think you should sell all the video games and the Super Chexx at the highest price you can get to near that 4K she's looking for, and by the same token this action would liberate the shed the laundry room the garage a bit. Move some stuff around, and then bring the Twilight Zone home.
About the seller's remorse, things always come around again, all the time, in all sorts of forms, it's a normal cycle. Nothing to get hung up about, just wait for the opportunities, they zip by everyday for those who stay sharp.

Uaually people who post "what would you do?" already know the 'right' thing to do...they are just hoping that people tell them to do the 'wrong' thing. Although SpaceCadet will hate this advice, the TZ has to go. On a purely logical level, absolutely no argument can be made for keeping a valuable pin in a place where you can not readily enjoy it and when the prospects of actually getting it back into your home in the near future are almost nil. It is pure lunacy. It could be likened to selling a cottage in a far away place that you haven't been to in years and you know you won't get to for a few more. You've got a friend who goes up there all the time, but you don't. Should you sell it when a buyer knocks on your door ? Yeah, probably.
McMean's point is a good one, although meant to be humurous. Your wife won't leave you (?) if you don't sell your TZ, but now that she knows your situation, you are in the position where not selling will likely reflect badly on you. So you won't lose a spouse over it, but making the "wrong" choice here could alter her confidence in your decision-making abilities. And it is hard to get that back ( ooh, heavy stuff man )
Don't forget the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you send a pin on to a new owner ~ especially a newbie owner who will love it, caress it and honour it. That has to count for something, doesn't it ?
So in case my point got lost somewhere in the body of this lecture, SELL SELL SELL !
A happy wife is a happy life. BTW...we need to figure out a time in July for me to bring the Joust CT your way. Just a head's up, in case it needs to go into hiding by the time I arrive.

Keep the TZ and sell me the Joust vid. Problem solved.
I do the same thing with games, stash them somewhere. Wife stays away from this topic pretty well since most of the time she gets her way on other issues... you know the ones that you couldn't care less about because it doesn't involve your games.
Here is my best advice.
Tell her you wear the pants and the family and it's none of her f'n business. Then rather than posting you can have an in depth discussion about it here.
I understand your problem. In my opinion you MUST find the games to keep but in an reasonable amount of time. You need a goal to achieve, for example, you make the decision to sell few games in 2 weeks. Take this time to find the keepers and in 2 weeks sell the rest and never change your mind, never come back on your decision, never think again about this decision. It's like quit smoking

Quite honestly sell your overstock vids and bring TZ home. Your wife is pissed because you have $4500 sitting in someone elses house that could be put to better use for the family. She likely would be readily accepting of you keeping the game if it were at home.
TZ will likely hold it's value or go up.
Vids will likely go the other way even further especially when the old farts that played them downsize homes in retirement. Kids don't care they have consoles. Look at it this way you can buy them back for less later. Why sit on them?
