Well, just when I was kidding about selling Centaur, now it looks like I will have to. A semi on the highway decided for me by throwing a chunk of ice my way. So I am stuck repairing the van (cv joint, and possibly transmission... leaks a bit). If I claim it through my insurance, it will cost me twice over anyways, if not more, especially since I pay peanuts due to never having a claim. And if my wife finds out, she will go nuts (I don't want that, especially in her current state).

...This sucks.

Oh well, hopefully it will still be there for my son's birthday party. At least some might enjoy it before it sells.

It will be in the classifieds shortly.

Trucks are responsible for cleaning the ice and snow off of their veichles, you didn't happen to get the license plate and company did you?  You can call the company and get them to pay for the damages.

I used to work for a truck company and they must us clear off the trucks every time it snowed for this exact reason.

Not a chance. I tried, but even the writing on the back door of the semi was covered with snow. My wife even feels like crap due to what happened and has even offered to pay the repairs with her credit margin, but debts are what put me in this position. I could put the machine on Ebay (a couple of Americans contacted me in the past, REALLY wanting it), but I rather sell locally for less. But since I need the repair money, I might have no choice soon.

That's if you can prove the ice came off of their truck, which is pretty much impossible unless say you have a witness with you that saw it come off the truck. Also if the piece of ice came off from under the truck (snow and ice build up from driving) or was on the road and the truck ran over it throwing it your way, they are totally not responsible. That goes for anyone driving. If you are driving down the road and lets say you run over a rock and your tire throws it up and it cracks the windshield of the car behind you, then you are not at fault as it is not your fault that the rock was on the road.

I did see one idiot this morning who didn't clean off their car in the slightest and was driving around. There was over a foot of snow on the back truck/window area! Just stupid.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Sparky.
