Well , you all asked for progress pics...I've completely stripped the PF and wound up with a 3/8" dip in the middle....So firstly I cleaned the face up, now I laid it face down on wax paper as so it doesnt stick to the table( the table is a 4" thick solid slab of nice flat particleboard). I sprayed the back of the PF with water and placed about 600 lbs of wieght on the PF. I also ran a thin strip of wood under the long edge b4 adding the wieghts to compensate for reflection once the weight is removed.

Throwing away a warped playfield is a big mistake... a warped playfield can be fixed. I have done a few already.

I'd rather try all I can to save the origional playfield, but unlike most playfeilds this one s made from MDF and not plywood. So the problem is with water damage, the MDF soaks up the water and makes straightening a bit more diffucult cause the MDF changes thickness as it is wet.

Well that playfield wasnt just warped it was nearly effed! The water damage was sever enough to change the thickness of the playfield from about 9/16" ( the origional thickness to almost 3/4" thick where the water really soaked in. Once the PF was stripped it had about a 3/8" dip in the center of it. I found someone with a veneer press. So what I did was lay the PF on wax paper, face down. In a spray bottle I mixed carpenters glue with water 1:5 glue to water mix. I completely soaked the bottom of the PF with the mixture. Laid wax paper on to of it so the glue doesnt stick to everything else. In the veneer press I basicall squished the crap out of my PF and left it for a couple days. I just picked it up from the shop where it was in the press and with amazing results. Not only is it now perfectly flat , but quite solid and uniform thickness! Pix will follow. Im letting it dry some more on a flat surface with wieght on it as so it wont warp as it dries.

Briguy, that is pretty impressive technique but I have to ask since most members here probably do not have a wood press in their basement or garage, how much would it cost to ask a shop to do that for you if you do not work there?

Ricker's current lineup;

El Dorado          Flash.                   Royal Flush           Joker Poker
Volley               Pioneer                 Barracora             Black Knight
Meteor             Xenon

I'm not sure how much it would cost. I lucked out that I know a guy who knew someone who has a press( a very very old one) . The best way to find a press is call some custom cabinet shops or look for people who make musical instruments. The guy who I found didnt know me but said he rarely uses his press and he was curiuos to see if it works. I bought him a bottle of wine as a thank you. If your lucky it may cost you $50.00. Just be carefull if you find a press that the heat setting can be adjusted or turned off on both or just the artwork side because it will damage the artwork if it heats up too much.
