I figured I would post this...

While driving to my Mother-in-law (Mother's Day...), I took the same route as usual and I go through a village that has an antique/garbage store. As I'm passing it (at 50km/h), I notice a PINBALL MACHINE inside!. I never stopped so fast to the shoulder, even though we were already late for our visit.

I go inside and the first smell that goes in my nostrils is 'funny tobacco' (bad sign #1)... so I look at the pinball and other items (don't want to be 'that interested in it) and it's an EM (Bally Expressway). The backglass is horrible (30% missing paint) and very dirty/dusty, but the cabinet looks nice and original. So while I inspect more stuff, I inadvertantly ask the 'unwashed geezer' (bad sign #2...oh! the stench!),the only person inside, how much...

- he goes $400
- I ask: Is it working?
- He tells me: No...it needs adjustment...a fuse is blown (bad sign #3)

At that point I make a little smirk when he tells me: At $400, I hope it's not working, 'cuz if it was fully working, I would be asking (and selling it easily at) $2000... (bad sign #4! GRAND SLAM!)

At that point, I started bursting with laughter...

He tries to tell me he's been in the business to 30 years or selling and fixing them to which I 'lost my cool' and told him he's nuts, that I have quite a few more recent (and more fun machines) which none of them are worth $2000...then he gave me crap, I told him he's dreaming and good luck on his 'sale'...ok, maybe I wasn't that nice...

I thought of returning to apologize, but I didn't...

In any case, if you're interested in a Expressway, very dirty, crappy backglass and non-working for $400, PM me for the details, as I'm probably 'barred for life' there (not a big loss anyways...the only thing there are dust collecting, pot smelling, overpriced pieces of garbage)

Frosken...calmer now

Geez, and here I thought that type of smell was the unofficial greeting for MAACA meetings?

Nope! It's not the 'Wendover Flea Market" nor "Meo bicycle" at Blue Corners...

Meo had a pinball machine once (4+ yrs ago) which I missed and went for 'dirt cheap' ($125 for a Bobby Orr)...

BTW, it's Hawkesbury...

Funny, small world, I saw that Bobby Orr machine, but I'm not a hockey fan.

Good on you Frosken for telling Sandford & Son that he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about....People who DON'T know what they're talking about, need to be TOLD that they don't know what they're talking about....otherwise they'll keep fumbling along through the world thinking they're right about everything.....

So you're actually helping the evolution of mankind by enlightening him to the notion that he's nuts, the way I see it.

Man I used to love that show!
I always thought it would've been better though if they had some lyrics to go with the theme song.

Oh, he's an old man, and his yard is full o' junk...
And his son Lamont, well he is just a punk...

O.K, maybe not.

Sorry, but now I just can't get that tune out of my head...
I'll have to finish this song or I'll never get to sleep.

Roll tape...
Cue music:

http://www.timvp.com/sanford.html

Cue singers:

Fred, he's an old man, and his yard is full of junk.
And his son Lamont, well, he is just a punk.
Come on over and make a good deal or two.
Oh ya, Make a good deal or two.

O.K, now give me 6 bars with just music.
Good... Good.
Annnd, Cue singers.

Now old man Grady, he is sure to come on by.
He's a nice man, and hardly ever tells a lie.
Well, to be truthful to you, maybe just a few.
Oh ya, heck maybe more that just a few.

Bubba & Rollo, we don't remember what they do.
But if we think hard, we're sure to get the news.
Ya that's it, we think they sell cool shoes.
Oh ya, cool shoes.

Aunt Ester, man that woman is a pain.
You can trust us, she really drives poor Fred insane.
Hey Elizabeth, Fred is comin home to you.
Oh ya, coming home to you.

Like we said, Fred's yard is full of junk.
But it's the good kind, and it hardly ever stunk.
Come on over and make a good deal or two.
Oh ya, Make a good deal or two.

Excellent! Cut & print...
O.K everybody, that's a wrap, see you all tomorrow.
Please turn the lights off on your way out.
Thank-you, and goodnight.

Adam
