I picked up a mostly working Mibs, with the purpose of cutting my stencil/painting teeth - I'd like to redo my Wms Crossword, but wanted a practice pin.  There are probably a tonne of ways to do this, but here's what I did, with what I'd consider to be success:

What I started with:

What it should look like:

Prepped and painted flat white.  Didn’t take a picture of the speckle job I did, but I used black and dripped the paint brush over it.  Not totally happy with it, but meh.  Already looking better than it was.

Made a stencil using my kids’ big wall project paper.  Covered one side of it with clear shelf paper, to give it a bit of strength.

Forgot to take pics of the orange part.  So what I’m doing with the black is the same thing I’ve already done with the orange.

Cover the side with clear shelf paper.  Then put the stencil on and trace the holes with black sharpie.

Remove the stencil.

Use an exacto-knife and ruler to cut out the stencil parts to be painted, and remove those parts of the shelf paper.

Paint!

Remove!

Sha-zam!

Overall, I think it turned out smashing, given what it looked like.  I'm not really looking to get into the EM painting biz, but more wanted this experience for my Crossword.
Daniel

No, probably not.  I'm waiting for schematics from PBR, and then I'm going to figure out the problem in the head GI (blowing fuses, it has a few hack jobs in there I need to remove, too), clean it up nice and then probably put it up for sale.  I figured this was the perfect pin to cut my teeth on for making stencils before tackling my Crossword.... 2 colours, basic pattern.

Oh, and thanks for hooking me up with this pin, Monkeybug - appreciated!     It was a great learning experience.
