He obviously reads MAACA, so why not post here to clear the air if this guy is legitimate. Why not join the group, if he buys, sells and restores pins?
Something sounds very fishy
I was'nt on MAACA for the past few years and I collected pins....What's so fishy about that??
I can understand someone who collects pins and loves the hobby but does'nt want to join a forum. Why don't you???
Anybody who has a computer and internet can read MAACA forums, you don't need to be a member.
My point was:
(1) If you're a knowledgeable pinball collector, and you already know about MAACA, why wouldn't you be a part of one of the online groups? It's a great networking resource for buy & sell and repairs. It's one thing if you don't know about MAACA...but the "indignant KIJIJI poster" obviously does, as he mentions it specifically by name.
(2) The "indignant KIJIJI poster" has been following the thread enough to learn that we have been discussing the "fake Anderson/KIJIJI posts".
(3) Anyone following this thread would see that no one has stepped forward proclaiming "I left those messages on KIJIJI." So...why is the "indignant KIJIJI poster" blaming people from MAACA?
ie: "To all the persons or person at MAACA slandering all us pinball gurus in ontario, please stop."
Why is the "indignant KIJIJI poster" *so* convinced that it's someone from here?
(4) If you were the real Anderson, wouldn't you pretend to be a knowledgeable pinball collector who is fed up seeing all the activity on KIJIJI, just to try to convince the "fake Anderson KIJIJI poster" to stop? Afterall, the person putting all the fake Anderson ads up is further exposing the real Anderson's activities.
(5) Logic dictates that the "indignant KIJIJI poster" is likely the real Anderson.
It's a well documented, widely published case of repeated frauds. Why is anyone trying to jump to the real Anderson's defence?

What no one understands is why the guy replied on Kijiji. Just as the original Anderson ad wasn't taken seriously at all, neither will this reply. Anyone can post that they are not this guy or not that guy and that guy is in jail... Heck, I could even post that I am Stephen Anderson, or Shaggy, or Claude Veilleux, and I can complain on Kijiji on just about anything. The thing is that no one will take it seriously.
Some guy decided to write a few jokes at Anderson's expense, and some guy decided to post stuff for sale and follows Anderson's way of posting on Kijiji and Ebay to the letter, but doesn't reply when people ask questions and ask for more (decent) pics. No pics, no proof, no nothing.
He was asked to reply on Ebay... he didn't, other than sarcastic answers.
He was asked to reply on RGP... he didn't.
He obviously read comments on MAACA about the ads... he didn't reply. He could have even sent me an email with a complaint... nothing.
Someone posts on Kijiji about some MAACA members flaming him... he replies in a Classified ad... just like the spoof on Anderson. Taken seriously??? I don't think so.
I have had some personal experience in such situations when I sell something. If someone asks a question, I answer. If someone wants more pics, I take more pics.
Here's a comparison... when Cooke sold his EBD recently on Ebay, was there ANY flack about it? NO. For all I know, he could be Anderson... I never met Corey. BUT... he inspired confidence with full disclosure. He showed that he had nothing to hide.
Overall, yes... it is a sad fact that people are skeptic in pinball... but that is just a result of MANY people having been screwed over. Due to that, honest sellers must be more open. By doing that, oddly enough, items sell for MORE... imagine that.
For all we know, the poster of that ad could even just be a disgruntled ex-member. I know of 3 that have tried to log in in the last few days.
If the fake KIJIJI ads bring more recognition to how a known scammer operates, I say more power to them...the more people that know about him, the better off everyone is.
Simply, my thought was whoever the "indignant KIJIJI poster" is either a fool, or is trying to cover something up.

Anderson is getting what he deserves, but man would I hate to get one of my adds taken for an Anderson add like "maybe" this one. That's why I am inviting members to precaution.
The way things are going.... I wouldn't be surprised if they cancelled that whole category on Kijiji.
I don't think that would be such a bad thing, it would make it easier for me to make legitimate sales and purchases.
I don't completely understand why ALJO is going on the defensive, except to play devil's advocate, but yes descretion is the better part of valour. Whether that "fixer upper" ad is Anderson or not IS debatable, but it's close enough in MO to be careful about it. I don't think anyone here has disagreed with ALJO on that one, no fears man, we get it.
It is said that Anderson exhibits some schizophrenic tendencies and pathological lieing, so it goes to reason that he might truly believe in his innocence and use twisted misguided ways to express it. He's done it here and on the radio equipment collectors forums before. If you're notorious, you get off on seeing your name in lights (good or bad), so it makes sense that he, or someone just as cracked up wants to slander MAACA folk. The ultimate goal may be to draw attention to the ads that expose Anderson so that the whole kafuffle gets taken down, and then he can get on with posting his "want ads" again.

I wouldn't confuse "schizophrenia" with good scamming tactics.. the guy who scammed me was spouting the same crazy accusations and lies, and I can guarantee he's not a schizophrenic. These tactics seem more a way to throw the trail off than a desperate cry for attention. Notice how routinely if one angle doesn't work (ie. lying about their intentions), then they switch to another one almost instantly (ie. threatening to kill you and your family if you pursue it further).
These scammers deserve to be bludgeoned to near death, IMO*. They truly are the lowest of the low, right next to pedophiles and rapists. Unfortunately, the law doesn't seem to care too much. If there's one thing I've learned from this whole sickening experience, it's how easy it is for someone to make a living preying on good, honest, hard working people. If I were as black-hearted as these scum, I might be inclined to put this knowledge to good use! Thankfully, I'm not..

... if it wasn't for me supporting my family and being an example for 2 young kids (hey guys!!! Love ya!!! ) I would gladly trade my "services" for a pin... and in Anderson's case, probably a half-dead old Stern.

OK, my layman's take - Schizophrenia and Pseudologia fantastica (pathalogical lieing) are divergent, that is Schizophrenics are delusional, they believe their own lies or perceive the lies as reality, and Pathological liars suffer, among other things, from social disorders and extremely low self esteem and attempt to ameliorate dealing with the sometimes aweful or painful truth by lieing, but generally, somewhere deep down they will or can acknowledge the lie. Once someone gets practiced at lieing as a "successful" way to cope socially, it is hard to break the pattern.
So the question is, does a person like Anderson believe himself to be right and everyone else wrong (Schizophrenia) or does he feel so bad about himself that he must try to make everyone believe that he is something he is not(pathological lieing)?
My brother suffered from pathological lieing (and we suffered along with him) so I have at least had first hand experience with that.
