Hey Guys look what i found
The rules have been radically changed. I wouldn’t be too worried about it. Lyman is a great programmer and rule maker, and after Dwight left, I am sure he did a good job. I see some of Dwight’s rules are still in the game, too.
The 24 rectangular inserts used to be modes and games representing the 24 hours of 1 season.
Our wizard modes “Save The President” and “Master Agent” are still intact, but the rules are an unknown to me. It doesn’t look bad, all in all. I see that they have divided the rectangular inserts into 6 modes for each of the Safehouse, The Suitcase Bomb, and the Sniper. That could be cool. The MOLE feature and CHLOE are still there, but I don’t know what they do anymore.
I designed a small area on the lower right where a ball could be fed back into the shooter lane. We called it ESCAPE. I hope it’s still there, but can’t see it in this bad photo.
The playfield looks intact; I don’t see anything removed from the original. It played pretty smooth before I left Stern, and I think John Borg and Ray Tanzer did a nice job finishing up the game. It has very good flow and some nice clean shots. One of the last things I did was widen the right ramp. Many of the shots are long, but the drop target terrorists definitely spice up the close-in action. They are situated at about “Firepower distance” from the flippers.
The Suitcase Bomb is a real 3 ball accumulator, instead of virtual locks. It opens and closes. Before I left there were two 3 ball multiball features, one is Hero Multiball if you manage to defuse the bomb on time with a timed shot on the final lock. The other was Nuclear Multiball, where the suitcase bomb goes off and Washington DC is blown off the map. I don’t know if they decided to keep those rules or not. They were pretty fun.
The picture is really poorly set up. There are 4 drop target “terrorists” in the game, and they left them in the “down” mode for the photograph. That’s dopey. The picture of the game would have made more sense if they had been shown up! If you look closely at the picture, there are 2 drops in front of 2 stand-ups at the left rear in front of the Safehouse. The safe house “blows up”, but don’t expect MM’s device. That would cost a fortune and they didn’t give us much leeway in the budget dept.
On the right side way up close to the glass is a “sniper” hidden behind a door that swings out and reveals a terrorist with an LED tipped machine gun (at least that was the plan) that would light up with every “bullet”. The terrorist will try to shoot you, until you hit a target below and “kill” him.
