OK, AFTER placing this current large order for MAACAnites, and having issues with getting delivery in good time, now I am told that the Safety Standards people are turning up the heat requiring safety seal logo etching on all tempered glass except for 1/2" or thicker tabletop glass.  Pinballs do not qualify and my supplier refuses to do the order without.

The current bulk order is on hold as I have polled the current buyers to see if this would be acceptable. (Also, the supplier wants an extra $5 to wrap the sheets in paper, for god sake.)

I have tried to make certain that the glass I have sold in the past was without the logo, as it is placed a 1/2" in from the edges of a corner and is about 1/2" in diameter.  If you put it at the top of the machine, it is likely to be at least partly hidden.

So what do you think, would you buy glass that with the logo etching, do I try to find another supplier, or ?

In my current pissed off mood (in part also because they gave me 4 scratched pieces in the last order without telling me) - I am inclined to just cancel the order and go soak myhead for a bit,  but of course I also don't want to disappoint those people expecting some new glass.

I would find another supplier. Sounds like they figure that you HAVE to buy from them and are trying to "soak" you, 5 bucks for paper?

Go shop around.  I am sure people would wait for it.

I agree that I should shop based on the customer service and lack of loyalty I am getting. But last time I looked there wasn't much of a bargain out there for 75 pieces!

I think the $5 is for the labour to lift 3 pieces together to do the wrapping, but since it's out of the blue, it smells like a shakedown. I can deliver glass unwrapped, I just liked the idea of delivering it wrapped - gives some protection when it's floating home in our vans and cars.

What I really need to know is if people are ok with the etched safety logo in the corner.

Dumb-a** question, but wouldn't the logo be covered by the lockdown bar?   I think the logo would be a benefit, 'cause then I know its tempered.   I replaced a few suspect pieces just to be sure I had tempered glass?

But, yeah $5 for wrapping out of the blue - BULLCHIT!

Not dumb at all, it's on my mind as well.  SInce they owe me a couple replacement pieces I am asking that they etch those so that I can photograph and test fit, and reassure people that it will be hidden.

Tempered glass has been known to "explode" when under pressure or when pressure on it is released. Wrapping is a small insurance policy that you don't have a million diamonds fly all over the place and a very small price to pay. Your eyes are worth more than that.

I have bought tempered glass before and yes they did put a small etching and you will only notice it if you search for it. Perhaps since pinball machines are made outside Canada the laws differ and thats why NIB machines do not have etched glass.

IMHO No. I have a really good glass that's etched but it bothered me enough to get a replacement.
