I got it but for me, Firefight came off as a poor man's Horde (GOW2) mode, without any of the strategy based gameplay Horde provides.  This isn't a knock at Halo style gameplay, it's run & gun style can be very fun and anyone looking at the "most played games on xbox live" can see the majority prefers it.

I did like ODST's campaign mode, played it with a friend, it's got a good story and some funny bits, well done.

I have it. Haven't even had a chance to play it though and doesn't look like I will have anytime soon. Having said that probably would make for a good forum topic to post members live account names.

I play mostly GOW and GOW2 when I have the time. Never been a big fan of Halo or COD online. I prefer having to move to a position of cover and the various strategies based on weapons cabilities, cover and traps of GOW.

Call me old fashioned but I can't even begin to see the appeal of a shooter with gamepad controls. Keyboard and mouse have ruled for me since QuakeWorld in 1996. Don't own an XBox or any other console, and probably never will.

Anyone like to play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory? The game is free and there are lots of players. My favorite server is whosgaming.com - often visit there with name "pinhead".

You're old fashion .  I hear ya and respect that position, I have another friend who just can't fanthom playing a shooter with a control pad.  I like it because it puts everyone playing on the same level playing field (outside of network connectivity/lag).  It's also cool to play with my butt sitting down in front of a large TV .

I'm sure there's some dumbing down but really once you get used to it, gamepad playing is very fun.  I betcha you would LOVE Horde mode

I started really playing FPS with UT and did master the keyboard mouse FPS gameplay. Moving over to console it took some time to be able to get the controls down to where I could sniper cap as well as PC games. It takes a fair amount of practice to get proficient (years) but as stated it is a level playing field as everyone has to work with a controller. Once you get good at it though you have the advantage of being able to make those shots with a more difficult input device to work with. In the end it is that aspect that has changed my opinion as high proficiency with the controller is not as prevalent and being able to use it well is an advantage.

Controllers only suck when your first trying to master them. Keyboard and mouse is pretty readily mastered by anyone.

Latency is the primary concern with FPS anymore for me. It sucks to be Canadian when most games are hosted a fair distance to the south.

Yeah lots of people play wolf:et, especially in europe. I can't tolerate the latency there. But this one is in Texas and my ping is pretty good. Just go into the game and type in the console

Yep all you need is the game and the patch (2.60b). Custom maps etc. will auto-download from the game server.

As for the "level playing field"... are you guys seriously worried that someone else has a better mouse and/or keyboard? I think that connection quality is a much more significant factor.

not just the control my friend, but the hardware.  Also, you can add the damn cheating that takes the fun away, happens way too much on the PC (happens on the consoles sometimes but there's a better conscious effort to put an end to it.  Again, very much IMHO here.
