The thing I don't get is why anyone is defending this guy???!!  Search the forums at look at the 80 some odd posts he made and tell me you consider him a contributing member of this community.  I didn't see this specifc post but it doesn't change the fact this guy was not a respectful and contributing member of this communtity.  Mabye this specific message wasn't that bad, but it's the culmination of his atitdue that is the reason I see this banning as a good thing.  If you can look at his history, I'm sure you'll agree.  

Look past this single incident and look into the history and you'll see that the Admin staff here made the right call.

I do not know the past, you are rigth vengence and it is normal that the admin react. My opinion is only that this thing should be over as I said I do not know the past of this guy, but it shure make a lot of reaction.

All of this could easily have been nipped in the bud via PM and 99% of members would have been none the wiser. Instead we get this whole drama queen Shakespearean over-analytical tragedy thing going on which only hurts the perception of maaca in the minds of its membership.

Maaca is what it is and I like it (for the most part). I think it's appropriate to have the admins pull offensive content, but this whole "warning" thing in the open forum is pretty silly and just serves to shine a spotlight on something that didn't deserve it in the first place.

Using this as a yardstick, there's other people that need to go too. What's fair for one, should be fair for everyone.

The "levelness" of the playfield is that some members have actually met other members and understand the context of their posts, or in light of their "in person" behaviour.  That's why the playfield seems unlevel as far as "poking" comments goes.  But offensive material needs to stay off, offensive members discouraged from posting.  You can never satisfy 100% of the people 100% of the time but there has to be a line somewhere that can't be crossed and that line is set by the owners and administrators of the forum. Period. Like it or lump it.

It is difficult not to "pile on" (the online "mob" mentality) when someone, particularly one where you have bitten your tongue any number of times, starts getting heat.  Then you feel it's necessary to pile on, open up and vindicate. This is one of those cases, I'd have to agree, and that Sparky had to do the dirty work.

Great commentaire Wayne! I agree completely. What appears as off-colour to us onlookers might be an inside joke between two members who are quite familiar with each other and are capable of reading between the lines.

In online forums it is very easy for miscommunication to happen and people to be offended. That is why someone invented "smileys".

Common etiquete dictates that if someone gets offended then the first step is too take it off-line (PM in this case) and try and sort it out. The MAACA community as set up was intended to be about learning, helping and sharing. Lets keep with the spirit - I don't think anyone wants to turn-off the valuable members of the community.
