There's a good tutorial here: http://www.csa3d.com/galaxian_coindoor.php

It mentions Rustoleum Textured finishing paint (#7220 Black), which I beleive others have recommended as well.

Rustoleum look nice, but it is not exactly the same texture. Thanks, i will think about it.
I prefer to find something that can make bigger irregular dots like this one.

The original finish is a 'hammered' finish.  I have yet to find any way to replicate that in a home environment, unfortunately.

I will admit that the current Rustoleum textured finish is "gritty" rather than "globby", and the "hammered" finishes can be a bit slick in texture.  I'd have to do specific research as I am sure I read something out there (and likely saved it) on a method that comes very close, and I'm wondering if the original is now a powdercoat finish (it is easier to achieve certain textured finishes in a powder coat process), but I have always thought the effect looks like a "splatter" coat that has then been painted over with semi-gloss black.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's powder coated too.

Who knows someone that does cheap powder coating?  I'd be willing to send ALL my game doors that need it in.

I do have a contact for powder coating northwest of me that I have been meaning to get together with, he does automotive parts and I've been meaning to talk to him about some coin doors and a slot machine cover that I need done at some point. I could check to see about costs knowing the volume, but you'll have to excuse me if it takes time to get an answer as I'm exceedingly distracted by an adoption in process.

Wayne,

Does the contact do chrome plating as well? I have a coin door I am thinking of getting chrome plated. Like Doug, I'm in no rush. I'm dead broke right now.

Quoted from TwilightZone
Wayne,

I'm dead broke right now.

Welcome to the club.    I am absolutely certain he does chrome, or certainly copy chrome which is a better type of polished nickle plating that costs a lot less....
