Hey,

Anybody out there?  Just wondering if there were any other MAACA members (pinball/arcade collectors) residing in Manitoba? There seem to be some strong pinball communities in Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal.  Any Manitoba Maaca members with more than 10 posts?  Sound Off, where's our pinball community?  Let's here from you........hello.........hello..........anyone out there?

Ah they're all too busy shewing away mosquitoes. Otherwise they are digging themselves out of the snow.

Goodsicka,

Okay, I think you have a point here.  Okay then, any pinball/arcade collectors from Thunder Bay lets here from you.  It's census time again.  Anyone.......hello........

There used to be an amusement dealer in Thunder Bay a number of years back but I forget their name.  I tried to get in touch with them I think it was about 7 yrs. ago, but had no luck.  There should be some machines kicking around  in Thunder Bay..

I meant to say Kenora....... The amusement business used to be in Kenora.  How far away is Thunder Bay from Kenora?   Oops

Are you thinking about Mid Canada Amusements?
Their site is still up but I don't think anybody is home...
http://www.ccco.net/games/pinball.htm

BTW, T.Bay to Kenora = 488.95 km.

Speaking of Kenora... Want to play a trivia game?

Fact:
Did you know that when Kenora was first incoperated as a town it was in Manitoba.
It was also not originally called Kenora... Nope, it was called Rat Portage.
Question #1: When was the name changed?
Question #2: How was the name Kenora chosen?

OK, those were easy... How about some that are a little harder.

Fact:
Their is a small town that is 1hr 18min(approx) by car from Kenora.
In that small town there is a school which is named after my Great Grandmother.
Question #3: What's the name of the town?
Question #4: What was my Great Grandmother's name?

Prize:
I will buy qty-1 shirt from the next run of MAACA shirts for the first person to post correct answers to all four questions.
Oh, and BTW, spelling counts.

Good luck
Adam

No guesses yet... Hmm... I wonder.

Too early in the day?
Too hard?
Absolutely no interest?
Oh my God!, I hope it's not my grammar.

I can gives clues if wanted/needed... Let me know.

Question #4: What was my Great Grandmother's name?

Prize:

#1:  Early 1880's, when the Canadian Pacific Railroad finally came through the town.
#2:  Due to the combining of 3 municipalities, they used the first 2 letters of each city name to make the new one... KEewatin + NOrman + RAt Portage.
#3:  Vermilion Bay
#4:  Lillian Berg

Anything else you wanna test me with?    Your social security number perhaps? Credit card info? That elephant tattoo on your genital area you keep talking to me about?   ...just kidding folks!

That will be 1 tee-shirt!!!

Very good Ian!
But according to the Ontario government you only got 3 of the 4 correct.

There's still a chance folks, keep trying.

Alright... #1, 1909.

Actually to be more accurate, it was official in 1905.
http://www.gov.on.ca/ont/porta.....2/_l/en?docid=004659

However, I'm in a generous mood and I just hate to see you suffer alone so I'm going to call it close enough.

Congratulations Ian... You are the proud winner of qty-1 series 2 MAACA shirt.
Now hurry up and get them made!

goodicksa,

I can't believe Sparky came up with the answers to your questions.  Whew! What a relief.  I guess I can put away my thinking cap now. he he

I was rather intriqued by the answer to the second question.  I've alway enjoyed my visits to Kenora and Rushing River.

...Actually, I kick a** at trivia games like Trivial Pursuit... only lost once in almost 20 years. I seem to have a knack of remembering stupid facts... but don't ask me what I had for supper...
