Ok this is totally off topic, but i just bought a PS3 (since it was the same price as the Blue-Ray player, i figured i would take that over it, why not).
I'm looking to buy a game or two that will keep my interest for a while. I love racing game and would like one of those, i know Burnout Paradise is probably one i would like (owned Burnout2 on Xbox and loved it) but i also looked at GRID and not sure if GTHD is out yet... so, whats the best racing game so far on PS3 (fluid, fast and fun)...
What are the others must have ? Platform game, whatever else... I'm hooked thru HDMI at 1080p so please that that in consideration if its an issue (or a plus for specific games).
I already own GH3 for PC btw so i would be ready to trade it for the PS3 version if anyone is interrested, my guitar is in perfect condition and the game plays perfectly on my pc. I'd rather sit on the couch thou..
Thanks for sharing your opinions and no need to tell me Xbox 360 is better, it doesnt play BlueRay which is the main reason i got it.

Currently owning: - Solar Fire, Medusa, Flash Gordon, (Centaur), No Fear ------------------
I don't own a PS3 - but based on your Zizzle pin purchase I'd guess you have a young son. The LEGO games are great (I have LEGO Indiana Jones on the Wii) - its a fun 2-player game you can play with your kid. Apparently, the Star Trek/Wars LEGO is not as good as Indiana Jones. And LEGO is coming out with a Batman one, too...
Awsome racing game, sweet grpahics and really, really fun to play!
Other games I would suggest, really it depends on the Genre you like.
God of War and God of War II are amazing games, they are for the PS2 but will work on your PS3. Gof of War III has been announced but no release date yet.
I really enjoyed UnCharted, it's a fun adventure game.
You have to get Grand Theft Auto 4, if you have played any of the previous I'm sure you understand
Everyone seems to say Call of Duty 4 is amazing but I think FPS games are best left to a keyboard and mouse so I've never bothered.
My games list is as follows:
Oblivion IV: Elder Scrolls Guitar Hero 3 Time Crisis 4 The Darkness Uncharted: Drakes Fortune Lair Ratcet and Clank Futuer: Tools of destruction Grand Theft Auto 4 Motorstorm God of War God of War II
You can add me to your friends list if you like, PinballWizard23 is my username.
Still learning, iMm now connected through wireless to the Playstation Network and found out i could download free playable demos, very cool. I also did the system upgrade, i really like what i used so far.
Will try and add you to my friends list, i'll see what happens.

Resistance: Fall of Man Dark Secktor Rainbow Six: Vegas Godfather (the latest one they have): Very long time to beat this, and tons of stuff to complete. It's worth it for 20 bucks. Drake's Fortune: Awesome graphics, but not an online game and it's pretty short. Madden 2008 (this game sucks, stuttery problems)
I like the shooter style games like Rainbow Six, especially when you can play 2-player coop mode and you don't have to be online to do it.
Owning: Pinslot 1: Terminator 2 Pinslot 2: Demolition Man
Gone But Not Forgotten: Judge Dredd Tales from the Crypt

I own the following PS3 games at the moment and consider them all excellent. For multiplatform games, I usually by the 360 version as I prefer the online component on the 360, so there won't be any multiplatform games on the list.
Motor Storm (Fun arcadish game with great graphics. I think a new one is coming out in a few months) Ratchet and Clank (excellent 3d platform/shooter, kids would love it, adults too) Metal Gear Solid 4 (haven't cracked it open yet) MLB 08 (best baseball game I've ever played) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. For some it's a bit short but the feel of the game/story really is above average and I'd rather spend $60 on a tad short game that provides an awesome experience than $20 on a game I'll leave on the shelf. Personally, it's the one PS3 title that IMHO made the PS3 a must own gaming device. Super Stardust HD - bought off the Sony PSN network for $10 I believe: Incredible game that shows off your PS3's HD quality. It's based on an old Amiga shooter called Stardust, which was a pseudo Asteroids clone. This one plays almost like a cross between Asteroids and Robotron (same control scheme)
Just sold: Grand Theft Auto IV (I have the 360 version - the PS3 version is a tad better but again I prefer the online component and future DLC content on the 360) Grand Turismo 5 Prologue. Basically, it's a cut down version of the upcoming GT5. It's good, has great graphics but still doesn't have a collision damage model, though it's supposed to come out via patch later. Personally, I got bored with it due to the lack of collision damage. This is 2008 last time I checked.
Other games that are awesome on the PS3: Resistance Fall of Man. Resistance 2 is out this fall. I don't own it, will probably buy it when it's $20. COD4 (incredible game - in my top 10 lifetime and I haven't even touched the awesome multiplayer) Oblivion (if you like American RPG's they don't get much better than this. GRID Burnout Paradise Devil May Cry 4 if you like the series
Upcoming games due this year that I'm sure will be great on the PS3: Bioshock (have it on the 360, awesome game with incredible production values on graphics/sound. Fallout 3 (made by the guys who did Oblivion Little Big Planet - truthfully, I have no idea why everyone is freakin over it, it's not doing anything for me yet but I can't see everyone being wrong.
I'm playing through Stuntman: Ignition on my 360 right now, picked it up in a bargain bin. It's a great game that can be had for a low price.

i've played every ps3 game worth owning, and let me tell you, all you need is CoD4
first, enjoy the incredible single player experience.
the real fun starts with the multiplayer, and this multiplayer is one of those intensely addictive and rewarding multi's on a level with startcraft, halo 3, battlefield 1942 and counterstrike. i've been playing the multiplayer very regularly since the game came out and i'm not even close to getting bored of it.

FPS games should be left to a keyboard and mouse you can't get the accuracy and control that you need for an FPS with a PS3 controller. I grew up playing FPS's on PC, maivng to a PS3 controller just doesn't work for me.
