There you go my friend:

I put the stock divider on top for reference... hope it helps, the game sure does play a lot better (yes i'm a cheater).

Your half an inch estimate was correct.

Funny thing about this... I posted on RGP, looking for some extended lane guides awhile back.  There was a run done, somewhere in northern Europe a few years back (from what I remember).  Well, in typical RGP fashion, the thread spiraled out of control with people saying that it is cheating to do that, while others were saying that it is a necessity.  There was even a reference to Steve Ritchie (the designer) saying that he thought it made an improvement to the game.

I was amazed at how extended lane guides really polarized people.

Personally, I think its a drain monster and needs them.

De rien mister, glad to help !

Yeah Monkeybug, people seems to go insane over that. For me, the game is just more fun, right outlane was driving me nuts !

I kept my original lanes, of course, just in case i get so good that i feel like getting more challenge (yeah right).

If I still had my STTNG, I would go for them.  But alas, it was sacrificed for a modern Stern.

In a home use situation, sometimes a little tweak of the "difficulty" helps bring a game from "this is gonna go" to "this is a keeper".  STTNG is one, and the other we have is Fish Tales (adding extra thick rubber to the outlane bumpers adds just enough to keep it from being a frustrating drain monster).  Besides, if it's not challenging enough, you out grow it, or you want to tournament in the original specs, just change it back again. Pooh! to those who are too stuck in "as issued" stock configurations.

I think it's cheating, but that should be no suprise.  I feel it's the equivilent of putting rubberbands on the outlanes, if you can't handle the skill involved to play the machine the way it was designed, don't try and fluff off your in-ability to play well as a design flaw in the game.

I don't care if you want to change it, but at least admit that you suck and are only changing it because you can't handle playing it the way it is.
