There was an ad posted this weekend on http://london.kijiji.ca/ for a "Pinball Machine for Sale". The ad remained posted until about 11:00 this morning, but it has since been pulled. It read something like this:

"Pinball machine for sale. It was in our new house when we moved in. I don't know anything about these machines. The theme is based on the Twilight Zone movie. $250. Woodstock, On."

I e-mailed the seller (obviously) and asked if it was still available.

My message:

"I'm interested in this pinball machine, if it's still available. Please let me know. Thanks. Corey"

His reply:

"Sorry, the machine is sold."

My reply:

"Did you actually sell this machine for $250? It's worth considerably more. Just curious."

His reply:

"a guy came over on friday night and looked over the machine. the problem was a bad power cord, and something inside the unit. we played a couple games on it but they are not my thing.  he was honest and  told me what it was worth, helped us get ready to move in too but since he took the time to talk to me about it a deal was a deal. he also came back this weekend and helped us move."

So who got it? Whoever it was, they sound like a really upstanding person. And I'd say the seller is as straight-up as they come as well. I mean, would *you* have told the seller what it was actually worth? Or just cut the deal and got the hell outta there? And if you were the seller, would you have just said "a deal's a deal" and let it go for $250?

I take two morals from this story:

1) The early bird gets the worm.
2) Honesty is the best policy.

that is an incredible story. i really respect the buyer for being such a good guy about it - to be honest i am not sure i would have done the same. i'm pretty sure i would have paid $250 and gotten the hell out of there. does that make me a crooked bastard?

Yeah he told them what they really go for "$350". There is no way even Rockerfeller is going to stand there and knowingly lose $3000+ dollars.

The guy felt so damn guilty he did his house move?

Last time I checked. Gandhi wasn't selling any pins.

Makes me want to cry, I'm so damned unlucky (well, at pinball anyway).  But it sounds like a terrific story of people with actual morals - I wish THEY'D run for Prime Minister!

Is it just me or is everyone overlooking that someone just left a Twilight Zone pinball machine in the house?  ....for nothing.  Chances are it wasn't negotiated into the deal.

Ya, it does sound odd...
Well I guess they don't call it 'The Twilight Zone' for nothing

Anyone who phones up, misses the score, then tell the sellers they sold for to little or says i'll give you more if the buyer has not pick it up but made the deal, is an a**hole. You snooze you lose.Don't screw it for the other guy or make the seller feel stupid.
