I love this site and hoped someone here had an appropriate answer for this. My mystic cabinet has EMY 4372 carved into the side of the cabinet, is it from the factory or just someone's moniker? It sems to be the only major blemish on my cab. Just hoping for an explanation.
If it looks like it's stamped and it's near an edge, it's probably from the factory. If it looks like it was carved by a knife, it's probably graffiti.
Currently Owning: Vids- Road Blasters, Road Runner, Joust, Golden Tee 2005 Pins- Back to the Future, Theatre of Magic, Joker Poker, Grand Tour, Hyperball
Previously Owned: Vids- Far too many to list Pins- High Speedx2, The Shadow, Mystic.
It is the machine's serial number, from the factory:
- E means Electronic - MY are the first two letters of the game (Mystic) - Then the numbers are the serial number.
The same serial number should also be on one side of the head.
Cheers, - Sylvain.

Looking at my 1966 Bally project Gold Rush EM: No 'E' prefix in serial number. Just the two letters of the game name, plus numbers.
My Gold Rush serial number has GR plus four numbers.

If it puts your mind at ease, my Mystic cabinet also says EMY, then the number 4049. It does appear to be more deeply etched than any other cabinet serial number that I have, but it's legit !
