Hmm, all good input! I guess it all kinda makes sense... I think an A game should be a great theme, in it's own right, meaning that it should succeed in what it is meant to relate to! Second it should be a pin that you can play more than 10 times and not know of or have made all of the shots at least once boring.  I can name a few like this, but I won't, they are in the RGP link that MrMikeMan had included in this post. They are refered as B games. That RGP stated White Water a C game... Guess they dont like water themed pinballs and never actually played the game to conclude that! (or) They can't keep the ball rolling for more than 30 sec at a time and never played it again. I believe that is why whitewater is a B game...It meets all the criteria I have just mention above and so do other B games, not all, but a few have been misplaced.  MM is a great theme in it's own right, succeeds in what it is meant to be, have not played it more than 10 times,  so others will need to answer that one. I consider it an A game...Why? Because I love the theme and every one wants one! Will I like it as much as white water once I finally get one...I dont know.... but I will have money in the bank

OK - I'll bite - anyone going this route and paying $5000USD plus $500 shipping plus customs for a new remake of Medieval Madness or Cactus Canyon?

Its currently vaporware and there is no proof that they are or will be built.  I know of no maaca members who have put a down payment on one.  Although we would all like it to be true.

Read this RGP Post (although biased) and decide for yourself.

I think you should only respond to this thread if you played all of these games mentioned, Then judge for yourself if it should be in a b or c. I have played and owned quite a few but I haven't played everyone. I would put it this way it's an A game to me if it makes it into my basement.

Your analogy of Funhouse being a relatively cheap A is because we are looking the average price. Obviously a pin that is some nine years older and mostly produced non diamondplate we are going to average in some pretty rough machines.

A Funhouse that looks damn near HUO is worth a lot of coin in the U.S. collector market.

I would put TOTAN and NGG up against most premium A list. There is a lot of ignorance about these machines due to a lack of exposure.

There are A list pins for each era. But the absolute highest dollar pins (not including one offs and oddballs like Joust) is WPC in general. Most of the other era's "A" listers really aren't that pricey for the most part. They may be double or triple the standard price, but this does not put them in a price prohibitive area.

For example EM average probably about $400-$500 bucks. A pretty desirable Capt. Fantastic could be $1500.

I'll bet if you calculate for inflation you will find this machine to be at a bargain price from what it originally went for.

HP5P,

Your rating is Phantabulous!  That pretty well sums it up for me (Although I think I would rate Indy 500 a wee bit higher).

HP5P?  What is that exactly?  Does it have anything to do with Star Wars?

I agree with the A-lists, but have a few differences of opinion on the B-list, but I think it is pretty much dead-on. I would only put Indy 500 in the Premium Bs, and drop down Congo to simply B. The reason I say this is that I have seen Indys hit 2200$ easily, while nice Congos end up barely fetching 1500, and most often get parted out even if nice.

But you know what? You can ask 500 people and get 500 different lists. Some people LOVE Popeye, and it is to their advantage!!!

C-3PO was a creation of George Lucas.

HP5P was a creation of Hewlett Packard.

Yes you are all right, it is my printer, same laser printer I have had for 12 plus years. Needed a user name for ebay and I looked up and saw HP5P and been using it ever since. Sorry flashman, no long twisted story on that one.

Seems like I only need to change Indy 500 and Congo. I thought I would be shot from all angles on that list. In the end it is all personal, but that list generally relects market value for WPC pins and the market is set by thousands of collectors and operators. I never argue with the market, you can't change it. However, with lack of supply, I say "buy what you like and keep it. You never know if you will find another one".
