Hi just bought a new pinball, my first dot matrix it's a Jurassik parc. I already have 2 EM machine with I am a lot more confortable with. So I have a couple question.
1 I need the topper. How are the repro, are they OK or better to wait to find an original one. Maybe some of you have it
2 Is there something I should know to protect my game (playfeild, electonique parts, backglass...)
3 is it the kind of playfeild I can polish with novus or something else.
4 what king of wax is the best for that generation of pinball.
5 where the best place the buy part....
thank's for your help

1 I need the topper. How are the repro, are they OK or better to wait to find an original one. Maybe some of you have it -> I would check again to see if there is NOS around, but most repro stuff I have seen is respectable.
2 Is there something I should know to protect my game (playfeild, electonique parts, backglass...) -> Batteries. Make sure you change them before they leak! Start looking at Cliffy and Mantis protectors for the holes to protect them.
3 is it the kind of playfeild I can polish with novus or something else. -> It's more durable than what you probably are used to with your EM's. Take that for what it's worth but there are lots of postings all over the net regarding the care, repair and treatment of pf's to draw from.
4 what king of wax is the best for that generation of pinball. -> I use Milwax, but I am sure a variety of wax products are safe. Test an area before applying if your not using a pinball specific product.
5 where the best place the buy part.... -> Here is a list of sites and suppliers I use on a regular basis.
There are a number of products available for cleaning the playfield that should not be used. Millwax and Wildcat 125 come to mind. Avoid these products. Millwax and Wildcat aren't even really waxes. They are cleaners with extremly small amounts of wax and lots of solvents to keep the cleaner/wax in an easy-to-apply liquid form. Also Millwax and Wildcat contains high levels of petroleum distillates. Williams recommends not using these products on their games. Please see this service bulletin dated October 1989
so ... milwax ain't a wax. and from the service bulleting above, the urban legend saying it's bad for playfield actually means it will hurt mylar... if you have any.
Still, it's bad ... so use REAL wax

Yeah, be carefull because these things are really delicate (joking). The last thing you would want is a dirty 1 1/16" steel ball rolling all over them. That I am certain of.
Milwax is more of a cleaner than a wax for sure. I am sure their could be a whole other discussion on Teflon and silicon in waxes as well in terms of what they do. Biggest thing is to get the machine running clean so you aren't recycling dirt, that and replace your balls if they are getting rough. I have used some pretty harsh solvents to remove glue and crap from pf's and it hasn't hurt a thing. Again test before proceeding if your going to experiment.
