Anyone know a place where they can chrome plate small metal parts for a good price? ...Preferably in the Montreal area...

Thanks!

While we're on the subject let's collect the same info for Montreal, Ottawa,Toronto/Hamilton, Calgary and Vancouver , and border States, if possible . Could prove useful.  I would ask the same question about Vacuum Metalizing (and anodizing) for plastic and aluminum parts. Any reasonable places doing small jobs?

Thanks in advance!

What do you guys consider a 'reasonable' price to chrome something the size of the DM gun handles, or a T2 gun handle?

From what I've seen, the cost to re-plate a gun handle is anywhere from $75-100.

I'm about to send all my ToM wireforms down to a guy in TN that is going to re-plate them gold (or brass) for $75, and I'm tossing in an IJ gun handle as well which I think he's also charging me $75 for.

Once I've got these parts back and can comment on the quality (and get the OK from this guy), I will publish the contact info for all.

I had a couple quotes from California for 200 and 250 bucks to re-chrome both DM gun handles and the T2 handle, but I thought that was alot of money just for aesthetic purposes...

I wonder how durable something like this would be?  The results look great though.  Seems to be a reaction rather then just a color application.

Chrome isn't cheap!! usually cheaper to buy another part, but if you got the $$$$ the best place (IMHO) in Mtl. would be AUTOCHROME DU PARK in Longeul. they do car, motrocycle, jukebox ete.. plating/buffing .been there a few times for my Triumph motorcycle. if you want another place in ST JANVIER called  THE BANDIT ..... this guy can chrome anything!!!! even a towlet bowl(yes no joke!!) but............$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (guess why he calles himselt that name) last but also  pricy is GG buffing also in Longeul, they gold plate for a small extra

There are a few places around here that do chrome, but I suspect they only do large scale parts. I will call Monday. I want to have some siderails, lockdown bars and legs done... but I think for the legs I will end up just getting new ones... cheaper.

I had gold legs sent up from PBR. Along with some other items it wasn't too bad ($13.50 per leg, I think) if it weren't for the shipping.

I sent my handle for T2 out to be re-chromed and used Fairmont Electroplating. Took about 2 weeks to get the parts back. Total cost $60.00. Did a very nice job.  Only thing you have to watch is parts that have close tolerance fits (ie. bolt going through a hole) you may have to ream out after, as the chroming procedure adds material to the product.  I had to rework the trigger on the T2 handle as it pivots inside and would no longer fit .
It is also less expensive to have a bunch of parts to send out and have done all at once.
Here is a link for the place I used.
