Guys, I agree it's easy to make rash comments but we're all here to have fun. Let's respect others opinion.
ken_cinder: I like the new avatar but you forgot to add the word "self-" in there because the site has not censored you, only you are doing that.
Free speech: let's get something straight; there is no such thing as free speech. I can't go out in the middle of the street and start spouting hate retoric without some kind of "payment", either by a punch in the mouth or depending on the words, a trip in court. The only thing that's free is "thinking". Although I used to be an admin of a website a long time ago that was geered towards a PG rating, I also fought long and hard to respect other people's opinions and am a believer that the less censorship takes place, the happier generally speaking members are. This is not about making this an anticeptic site, it's about discussion and bringing forth comments.
I do not know where this is heading but I do know there are some that think "no one cares about Avatars being risque". I ask all of you, after these quick responses, can anyone reading this thread still think the same?
YES! Tglover is a crackhead! Complete MAACA-Wacko!

Guys, this topic is going to get nowhere in a hurry. Everyone will have differing opinions on the subject, that's just a fact of life.
If anyone has issues with peoples personal avatars, they have the tools at their disposal to fix the problem. I think it's pretty selfish to ask someone to change their avatar just because I find it offensive, especially when I have the means to disable it in my profile.
So this topic is moot. If you don't like certain members avatars, disable them in your profile. Or, if you only want to block certain members avatars, install FireFox and learn how to use adblock.

It's called being a smartass...
I find this to be a 1 ended kind of discussion. If one has an opinion like mine, they're wrong and that's that. Isn't going to keep me from voicing mine though, I've always been one to not care if someone else doesn't like my opinion.
I turned off the avatar display years ago (...I even forget what mine looks like ... ).
I think people should be able to use whatever avatar they want providing it's not illegal or grotesque (...although even that is subjective ).
The most "disturbing" avatar I've ever seen on this site was that kid with the face full of snot (...can't remember who use that, but it really made my stomach turn...)
As for browsing at work, I say all bets are off... Sure, you can be on your break, but you are using company resources.
Besides, in this day of Firewalls and Internet spying, your employer can easily find out what pictures you're looking at, even if it's only a small avatar, it could trigger pRon filters, ...and that's not good...

Simple.

I don't think anyone has said anything about the two things that everyone is up in arms about:
A) Censorship
B) Being offended by the female form.
All that was asked for was for some consideration.
I like the avatars it helps me identify a person in a glance rather then having to read their name, so I'd rather not have to turn them off.
All loafer is saying and I'm saying the same thing is if you wouldn't mind being considerate of the fact that some of us browse the website at work, we'd appreciate if the avatars were kept on more of a PG - R rating.
If you don't fine, but I don't see any reason the question can't be asked.
If you want to tell me it's too bad and I can go F*k myself that fine as well, but it's a two way street here.
Well here's a shocker smartass, I don't think your opinion is wrong. I'm asking what I set out to do, to see what people think about the issue because, as mentioned earlier, it was specifically implied that no one cares. Last time I checked, it's through discussion that the world deals and resolves issues, now it seems it's better to shut the hell up because there can only be two sides. Hmmm.
Even if this thread were to get deleted, it's cool, I learned I can shut off Avatars. It's too bad, like to see the funny ones (including your banana pin trip Menace.

Oh BTW I am Africian Americian... Whats up with the Black "Jive Turkey" THAT is probably more offensive than a pair of harnessed boobies
Jive turkey was a derogatory slang word in African American Vernacular English (Ebonics), used to refer to someone who was unreliable, made empty promises, or who was full of bluster.
Jive turkey is also a quick step dance in Germany in the 1930s. It is also known as the chicken waddle.
