I haven't had a No Fear set up for a while, but I have this game that came from Jvegas to JD3 to me a year or 2 ago. I decided the Pool hall I have a couple of games in needed a change, so I went through the No Fear cleaned and Waxed it up, Bulbs etc. Rebuilt the upper flipper as I finally got one of the Giant Bushings needed on that game. The lowers were done not many plays ago and are still fine. Fixed the GI on the playfield etc. Played it on a flat dolly in my shop for a few minutes, not bad, sits very flat there. Took it to the Pool Hall this morning, set it up properly, Leveled it and set the correct Pitch and Wow! That is a Fast game! There are only 2 places the ball stops, the "Tube" on the left a saucer that gives random awards much like the saucer on T2, and the Ball Lock under the Skull, otherwise it is just go go go! Not a real deep game, but the Soundtrack and the Skull yelling at you and the speed of the game. Very Fun! I also like that you can turn the coaching off in the Menu, so I think I will do that in a couple of weeks once the Pin guys at the Pool Hall figure it out.

Cool, I didn't know that. I always found that aspect of the game a bit annoying. Maybe I should consider adding it to my list of possible final purchases. Is it much faster than T2?

Another Inane post brought to you by the good people of ACME Corp... Purveyors of the all-purpose Thread Killer.
I think so, T2 is OK but pretty basic. No Fear uses 11629's (Blue) Flipper coils and T2 uses 11630's (Red) I believe. Also, the 3 magnets on the Ramp accelerate the ball for the upper flipper, much like the supercharger in Getaway, except you also have to hit the ball on the way by for the Jumps! Way more shots in NF than T2 and lots of modes to complete. I do like the Super Jackpot in T2 where you have to shoot the lit target with the ball launcher trigger while trying to play multi-ball, that can be pretty confusing, while the super-jackpot in No Fear is the upper flipper while playing multi-ball, not as confusing, but really easy to miss.
I haven't spent tons of time on it, but is fast and pretty fun.
Coaching is A.2. Inst. speech on/off.
You can also turn the Jaw off, which I had to do as the plunger is so worn on this game that it makes a racket. I will try to find the parts, but I don't miss it.

Oh yeah, and No Fear Doesn't have any Pop Bumpers to slow it down.

OK then, what's considered the fastest pin? I've heard people also mention JM as brutally quick. Adam
Without a doubt JM is MUCH faster than NF. You would think the pops would slow it down, but they don't. The ball bounces around quickly and is sent out. The ramps on JM are short and the ball comes slamming back at you. Great game. The only thing that slows it down is the hand, but, at least for me, that's a welcomed relief.
I love NF and have one -- only way it will ever leave is if a nicer one takes it's place. . Awesome, awesome game. Cann't believe you guys don't like the coaching. It's a fun aspect of the game as he is always ripping into you -- "Hurry Up....What are you waiting for..." etc. NF without the talking skull is No Fun to me
JM uses Ritchie's trick of returning immediately to the opposite flipper with cross shots. NF has to go all the way around but the orbits are shots that feel good. The ball definitely is moving faster in NF but JM turns it back to the flipper faster.
When is the ball moving faster in NF? I'm talking about the speed of the game and how you have to stay on top of it. NF is fast, no doubt, but alot of the shots slow it down. The ramp shot takes awhile to come back, now of course you can flip it around up top and that's loads of fun. The shot to the sky dive is another shot that slows it down.
JM, on the other hand, is just plain fast. The loop shots are like lightening. The ramps shots, like you mention, feed back QUICKLY -- even faster if you are back handing which is a good way to get points during Frenzy or Yazuka (spelling?) Strike. Most of the time, you are shooting ramps or loops and the hand (which is the only major thing to slow the game) doesn't come into play.
No doubt, JM is faster than NF. You would agree if you shopped that JM before you sold it
I like this thread, but I am going to start a new one as I would like to set one of my rooms up with the fastest games, so... See the next thread!
