I used a Panasonic VDR-M70. Nice little camera.

It's true. Kinda strange, eh? I was hoping nobody would notice.

Trivia: Can anyone tell me what game the spinner is originally from? (If anyone has an original Stern spinner - white w/ a red "S" on one side and blue stars on the other - I'm all ears.)

This was the game we played in our Hotel room in Rochester until 2AM, and it's even more fun to play than it looks like in the video.

Thanks for sharing!

By the way, I've been meaning to post a big THANK YOU to Sparky for all the excellent work he did to this machine, to Mindstorm88 for the additional work he did and for selling it to me and to Joce and Rider for hauling it from Montreal to Toronto for me. Getting this machine was a maaca team effort and I'm very pleased with it. Thanks again!!

There will probably be more old Sterns and Ballys like this one available soon. I have been bitten by the complete-rebuild bug again. I check MAACA and Ebay EVERY DAY for dead pins. Everyone thinks I am nuts for going that far with older pins... but then again, seeing Lightning in action proves my point.

BRING ME YOUR DEAD!!!!

The classic Sterns have proven to be a bit of an obsession for me. I have another one coming this weekend that I'm *totally pumped* about. Naturally, it needs a boatload of work and I'll devote to it the time that it requires to make it 100%. No other era or manufacturer gives me quite the same giddy feeling. Don't get me wrong, I love all (most?) pinball, but there's something about resurrecting a classic Stern that makes me smile from ear to ear.

This Lightning (the 5th Classic Stern I've owned), was one of the only machines I've ever brought into my home that *didn't* require a ton of work. Just some lamp sockets needed to be fixed and some switches needed to be adjusted. Simple stuff.

Now, if anyone has a Stern Cheetah for sale, I'd be delighted to hear from you. Working condition is unimportant.

Same here. At one point, all I had were Sterns with F2K, Lightning, Big Game, Meteor and Galaxy. I also had a couple in storage that were unfortunately REALLY bad, including, yes, an Iron Maiden. I would love to start that over, but cheap Sterns seem to be in short supply. I prefer the M200 Sterns myself. Not too crazy about the M100 ones, and the really early ones resemble Chicago Coins too much for my taste, but I would still get some. I find them as easy to work on as old Ballys, as their systems are pretty much identical. I will probably jump on a few that pop up soon, as the finances should permit it, and my brother moving out in a month should clear up some gameroom space.

Well, while I wait for a Lightning, Iron Maiden, Dragonfist, F2K, Big Game, Freefall, Viper and others, I always have my Ballys.
