Well, since we got our 42" plasma, we haven't been watching our old TV much, so I'm thinking of selling it. It's a 32" Sony Trinitron. It's about 10 yrs but works great and the picture is fine. So what would be a fair selling price for this ? ( I paid $700+ back in the day ! ) I was thinking $150. (it's a Sony after all... ) If I can't even get that for it, I'll just keep it for the kids.... (...or a big-a** MAME ! Thoughts ? Thanks, Steph |

Considering what 500$ can buy right now... i would not pay 150$ for a 10 years old crt, but thats only me http://www.futureshop.ca/catal.....S10084082&catid=However i'd say that you would be able to find someone to buy it at that price, post it in the Ottawa classifieds where the non-technical people goes.. |

The value also depends of the model# within the Sony line-up.
For instance, a used 32" Wega XBR will fetch more than say a regular non-flat 32" CRT Sony.
I think it might be difficult to get more than $100 for your TV now if not a flat screen. Just my opinion...

It's not an XBR, and I realize I may not even get $100 for it.
At that point, I might as well just keep it.
Even if I can't sell it for $100, it's "worth" more than that to me so I guess I'll have to to keep it.
Thanks for the input.
Cheers, Steph

Keep it. It doesn't cost you anything now, and it will probably outlast your plasma! I have a 27" Sony which is 11 years old and I have it in my family room. Works fantastic, and I don't care if my son throws his megabloks against it. I told myself 5 years ago that I will change it when it busts... still waiting, and in the meantime my plasma gets the repairs... |

I too have a nearly top of the line (at the time) Sony XBR Trinitron (just before the Wega line came out). Not entirely flat field, but a curved CRT gives much, much better side angle viewing. It is heavier than 300 lbs and I'll bet cost me around $1500 back then. At the time I had to decide between a Sony CRT and a Hitachi rear projection. I decided size wasn't everything. But selling it would be pointless I think, and it's as good / bright as the day I bought it (which is excellent by the way) been in constant use and never had a repair. It's gotta be worth more than $100, but you never know what people are willing to pay. Here's one eBay not even as good as mine being sold by one of our kind: http://tinyurl.com/2rfgwb for $99 (BIN $400) And here's a 32" PAnasonic only at $3.25 right now http://tinyurl.com/36g545 |

Sold a 27" WEGA in less than a day for $100 o kijiji - right at the "back to school" time is ideal as kids get a place and want a tv in their room. |
