What are people's thoughts on this one. I have an opportunity to pick up a nice looking World Cup Soccer 94 tomorrow, a fair price, not a great price, but it looks to be in good condition. I've never played it before. I may pick it up to re-sell it if the interest is high (and I don't like it - I'm only so - so on sports themed pins, although my son loves them).
Here are games I would like to acquire this year, or sometime...
24 Iron Man Attack From Mars Prefer Pounded playfield! Monster Bash Prefer Pounded Playfield! Elvis Sopranos Batman Forever Spider-Man Stern Prefer Pounded Playfield!
Have these available for trade or possible sale: Corvette South Park Theatre of Magic Twilight Zone RFM/SW:EP1 Nucore Combo AFM
It is one of those $1800 shopped games that is great value and is fun, many say it is undervalued. But they did make 8743 of them, probably the reason they sell cheap. I say WCS is a lot of work to shop out properly.

Yes Joe. I take it the machine's been offered around before. Any suggestions / advice? I have a buyer for FT (I think), so I am trying to bargain for two plus Return of the Jedi project, but he is fairly firm on price, and I unserdatand the machines are dirty, though the playfields look to be in good condition. We'll see tomorrow.

My advice to you is you may be able use it for trade bait on a JM. No guarantee, but your not going too far wrong I would think.
Is it in nice shape? It's probably the same one I know of, and yes it's a really fair price if it is.

You are just one too funny dude. I gotta get it home, clean it up and play it first. Then explain to the SO why our line of credit just got deeper.... yeesh I am addicted.

From the pics, it looks nice. Apparently EVERYONE's seen it....so why hasn't anyone taken it? If it's how I think it is (but as Enzo will tell you, I'm no good at scoping via pictures), then it's a fair price, not a Zwackery deal (but there'll never be another one of those). I don't really want to come home with two pins, I have a bun in the oven at Jims (PM) and no room... but FT's will pass through quickly like going throuhg a car was I hope. Then I'll clean up WCS, give it some family time, then when PM pick-up time comes in December, I'll have to decide what to do with it. Surely I can't keep them all?

Never had the game nor did I played it enough to form an opinion but it appears cause it's an ok game but once you have it, you're STUCK with it cause no one wants to buy it .

I beg to differ, WCS is one of the better b titles. I don't think he'd have a problem reselling it. Didnt wayne own a whodunnit at one point and resell it?
I agree with Mark, it is a good game, but it also is tough to sell. That WCS is in good shape, but I can think of quite a few pins I would want to have before it, and I think many others feel the same.

My experience has been the opposite. Easy pin to sell. Very family friendly. LOTS of kids play soccer so the theme is perfect. Fun game, great music and voices. Love "GOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!" I sold my last one for $2K. It was fully shopped and I helped deliver it. I immediately missed it and bought another. It's a simple game w/ easy to understand rules. Not complex at all. Not too bad to shop. The only pain are the ramps. They are HUGE and take alot of time if the game is dirty.
I know the market has changed a bit so it might not be so easy to sell it for top dollar. If you could bring the seller down a bit, I think you would be in a safe position. Try offering $1,700. I think the game would sell quick at that price so you wouldn't be out anything. Of course, I am assuming it is in decent cosmetic condition.

Hey! I resemble that remark!! The Who?Dunnit was in good condition (although I had lots of mechanics to fix). And it's a nice looking pin for any Clue enthusiast, it just doesn't hold interest for long term game play. I did get my money back out of it, but only because of the value of the pins I traded for it. I enthusiastically upgraded the DMD which was where my money went...
It was still for sale in Stouffville a while back...

Thanks all. I can't believe that I'm goign to go borrow money from the line of credit just to get Novus 2 under my fingernails and make a couple hundred. Who knows, this one may be a keeper, the game seems fun enough on VPin MAME and I like the simple rule set games that cheer you on (thinking of Shaq here). But you're right, it wouldn't have been on the top of my list - in fact it isn't but opportunity knocks.
Who?Dunnit is a Fun game, Not real deep, but great music and a cool theme. My Wife wouldn't let me move it downstairs, she likes to play it when she walks by, or has a few minutes to kill before work.
I am amazed how many Pins seem to get no Love.
Hmmm, I sense a new thread coming here...

Well, I'm in possession of a WCS94 and a Fish Tales now. Joe/Mike - nice guys, not willing to bargain much (although I didn't walk away) - I am sure they are expert bargainers being farmers. I overpaid (damn I'm weak).
The Fish Tales (pre sold) is gonna take a lot more work than I anticipated, it's a mouse house - got that dead mouse pee funk smell goin on. Cabinet fade. Playfield and ramps are dirty but in fairly good condition, couple broken plastics, I'll have to check the targets as there was one floating in the cabinet. The Test Mode buttons aren't working properly. All the buttons are gummy. Fish and knocker have been disconnected. It does play and DMD looks good. I can see why Enzo passed on it - I have to clean it up out in the shed, hose it down and sand the inside cabinet, it's gonna take me a month. My client isn't going to be happy, he was hoping to play it tonight I am sure.
WCS94 is a bit better. Routed (of course) and bar grimey, some cabinet fade but in fairly good condition, only a coupel little dings. Playfield looks to be in good condition though it needs a major shopping out.
Seems like a fun, but easy game for people who like ramps and cheering sound tracks (like me). It will sepnd some time in our living room, until we decide if its a keeper (or I need cash). I like having easy, astronomical scoring games, the kids and neighbours go nuts for them and it makes them feel like pinball wizards. Too bad I can hardly afford to keep this one. It may go up for sale closer to Christmas (or in time for another Worlds Cup event), depends on how quickly I can deal with FT.
They have a ROTJ stand-up arcade project that is in rough shape if someone's interested.

BTW, How did I go from fretting about spending a couple hundred on a game to running out to the bank to withdraw thousands? I blame YOU people! (I know, denial, denial, denial....)
Congrats Wayne....Joe is very firm on his pricing. Games are not bad, but I have to many pins to shop right now, that is the main reason I passed on them. They should clean up nicely.

Joe did come down a little for me which was nice, and I'm the type not to reneg on my offers, but the mouse house was unexpected and not disclosed (for which he was apologetic but not willing to go any lower). Even though he lives in Vancouver now, he must have some local Brantford connections through his brother(s). They're likely not the last games I'll get offered frm him, but he seems to take the better ones. I did find them pleasant to deal with though, salt of the earth people.
Stinky as they are, at least the playfields are in pretty good condition, they're only a decade an a bit old, and they work. A couple pots of ammonia and an odour absorbing pot and at least the FT is becoming approachable. My client is gonna freak, but I'll likely have to take it all appart to clean it properly, sand the cabinet, dishwash the harnesses and what not. Man that Fishtale is Heavy, it must be the anamatronic fish on the top. Yeesh I know what I'm doing this winter.
I want to thank everyone here on MAACA too for helping me through this purchase - I feel like I got a good deal afterall.
