Pu in an offer today for a nice spot, near Lakeshore and Carlaw in Downtown Toronto.Figure we can comfortably display around 100-120 machines.Zoning in this area is good to go as well. Has a second floor mezzanine also, about another 1000 sq ft. If they accept our offer , we'll be up and running by 1st week in August. Also was considering the old bowling alley in last pic, but that needs lots of work. I welcome your comments and suggestions.

PS first tournament is for a yet unnamed upright machine...highest score takes it. I was thinking something like Galaga, ms pacman , etc.

You bring up a good point.. might be a good day to bring all you miscreants back for a free day, complete with some refreshments! I am real excited about this place, I have been looking for a long long time, and this seems as good as its going to get. Priced right as well to ensure a really long run.

TOPL will be there as soon as you are up and running.

I'd also like to talk about setting up a pinball tournament of some kind at your place as well, but we can discuss that later.

The garage doors are interesting.  But I wonder what the heating bills would be like in the winter?

The bowling alley is a lot more open but might take a lot more to get it up to par.

I would also keep 2 lanes but place a few bowler games in that areas in the rough lanes.

Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.

The bowling lanes would probably be a pain to maintain, and be costly to get running. But... oddly enough, just the fact that they are there kind of lends itself to a true arcade environment! Most people of our generation played arcade games and pinball at bowling alleys. I personally have fond memories of when my mom was part of a bowling league, and on her league nights, she would bring me along and hand me a few bucks in quarters. Good times...

If you dont decide to run the bowling lanes, I would personally leave them there, fill in the gutters to make them flat with the alley surfaces, and make it a themed section, like all EM arcade games there, or all pinballs there... It makes for a cool pinball environment! Plus, it is a bit darker there, so it sets itself up great for pinball!

I was thinking of taking that place as well, and keeping the hardwood floors, I know what you mean about the whole bowling alley motif, but it is a basement, and the outside of the plaza is, for lack of a better word  , decrepit. Not really a family atmosphere if you know what I mean. Right upsatirs is a patio with a bunch of rummys and crackheads as well. Did I also mention it is in Scarborough! The price is slightly higher there as well, but the thing that really turned me off of the place was that he insisted it was 7200 sq ft, and was pricing it according to that. In fact the usable portion was no greater than 4000 sq ft and when adding all the nooks and crannys, and stairs it would maybe make it to 5000 sq ft. So essentially he wanted us to pay for 2200 sq ft of "phantom space" lets call it. The other space is bright, clean, right by transit, the highway, there is possibility for signage right on lakeshore blvd, it basically is in move in condition, and it has a roll up , insulated, door. Price is fair as well.Parking is available in the lot too.

That s exactly what I am thinking. Plus the amount of vehicular traffic along lakeshore blvd and even carlaw during rush hour is phenomenal. Now to find two volunteers ( Or family members) to prance along Lakeshore and Carlaw with either a pac man costume chasing a ghost, or donkey kong and a mario character costume, holding signs and directing people in. I am sure there are locals, students,or mental cases who may think of it as" an experience". Ha ha. Might end up being me out there, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
The other option( If that doesn't pan out) is to find a suitable young lady to prance along the same intersection with the costume below, not really family oriented, so that is why it is a last resort, but they say sex sells.

Yes , thanks for the idea. My brother in law is a chef, and I have already discussed the possibility of incorp. some food into the mix, he seems interested. Plus I can maybe cajoul him and my sister into putting on the costumes and going around the corner!!! Seriously though, if you make some half decent food available during the day for corporate types, plus the proximity to downtown, it makes a lot of sense.I had considered renting it out as a venue for more evening type events, but this is a great idea, and how many guys would love to go there with their work, under the guise of brainstorming? Bottom line is I am willing to do anything and everything to make this place a going concern. I really appreciate the idea, thank you very much

Kids birthday parties (or private functions) could be a good source of revenue.  Flat for fee for a specified time with a certain amount of tokens included.  InPlay (in Newmarket) is an example of this.
