I picked up a Escape From The Lost World Today (pics to follow sometime tonight) and i am in the process of getting it running.

I have sorted out most of the issues but have 1 remaining issue.

When I power up the game, it tells me what is wrong with it on the screen. It says "star rollover" (it is stuck down) and also says "mulit ball 2" (what is this Mulit ball 2 telling me?)

After this the game powers on fine and goes to the "credits" screen where it displays how many credits are in the game.

Here is where my problem is. Once the error report is done and the game goes to "standby" the left Auto Plunger Fires over and over (2 sec apart) like it is trying to empty a ball out of there. Then if If I pres start, the game says it is missing 2 balls? I have put 2 balls in the game and am out of ideas, lol.

Anyone?

Check the trough switches. It sounds like two of them are not registering.

Looking into that now. There is 1 switch in the "ball gutter" (middle) 1 switch on the manual plunger lane (right) and NO switch in the auto plunger lane(left).

ok I checked the switches, they look good. So I decided to test them in the "swich test" mode.

Switch test showes me a few things.

1st... the switches called "mulit ball 1 and 2" seem to be stuck closed. Where the hell are they?

2nd the main ball "gutter" (middle) hole switch is not registering.

3rd the right "drain" switch is not working

4th the right drain that is a SNEEKY drain under the plastics for for some reason, switch does not work.

and that's it for now.

anyone who has this game mind telling me where the Mulitball 1 and 2 switches may be?

All solenoids fire now that I freed them all up

I am off to find a manual to see if these switches are related in any way, they all look fine.

1st... the switches called "mulit ball 1 and 2" seem to be stuck closed. Where the hell are they?
They are on the bottom left corner, I assume thats where the ball stay before the multiball.
For further info look on page 63 of tihs document :                      http://www.ipdb.org/files/789/Bally_1988_Escape_from_the_Lost_World_Operating_Parts_Manual.pdf

Thanks Eric. I actuly found that page in a the same manual!  I had a quick look and the 2 switches seem to be moladex connectors ona PCB. When I unplug 1 of the moladex connectors the switch test shoes "all open"

I am going to get the top 1/2 back together (shopping) and then have a look at all these switches.

I just took apart the bottom end to get a look at the "mulitball 1&2" swiches.

Turns out they are NOT switches AT ALL, but they are LED's

The assembly consists of these 2 PCB's (Im guessing 1 is for TX and 1 is for RX)
Photobucket

I trouble shot the board I figured was for RX with a flashlight. When I blast each LED with the flashlight, the switch test then showed that switch as open, as it should. This works for both the RX LED's so I am going to say they are fine.

now for the TX PCB
Photobucket

I have tested all the traces and they seem good. There is power getting to the PCB from the wire harness. I use my Digi camera to look at the LED's and do NOT see any light coming out of them, however, I am not sure if this trick works on old LED's like this or just the more "modern" "opto's" on newer Pins.

I am open to any more ideas please

P.S. TX=Transmit and RX= Receive

NO IDEAS!!!

You guys and girls are making me SAD

I wanna play this BAD I need to get these LED swiches fixed and then figure out why the main ball gutter (middle) switch does not regester. I cleaned the swich to no joy, I even tryed "jumpering" the switch to closed to see if it would regester, no joy. I am going to have to follow the wires from the switch tonight to see where thay go.

I'll suggest test the resistors, and make sure power is getting all the way to the LED transmitters. There is some good info here:

http://www.pinrepair.com/6803/index.htm#opto

Mostly he's talking about the later opto trough, but it appears to be similar components.

If you have a working opto switch in the game, look at the transmitter with your camera to see if it registers.
