I'm thinking of buying a Multi-Williams Jamma PCB with Defender, Joust, Stargate etc...and I was wondering if someone has tried this PCB? I heard that sometimes the image freezes...Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are few versions of the Multi-WMS boards,
but you stated that it was a Jamma board so that narrows it down.

As I understand it, the Jamma version is actually a MAME knock-off
which will play 8 Wms games.

A more "genuine" version is Clay Cowgill's version (www.multigame.com)
which actually uses a real WMS boardset with an add-on daughter card.
I've played this one and it's 100% original.
The only shortfall is that it only plays 6 games, not 8
(missing from the 8-1 are Sinistar and Moon Patrol ).

Let me know if you've got more questions .

Salut,
Stephan

AND ....

The 2 extra games on the Jamma board are vertical, not horizontal like the 6 other games.  As well, Sinistar uses a 49-way joystick.

I am in the middle of a Multi-Jamma project myself and I think that Clay's kit is the only real way to go, even though I would like to play Sinistar/Moon Patrol.

Thanks for the info guys but I don't have Joust or Robotron cab. All I have is an early 80's Williams cabinet converted to Jamma with a lousy game installed...but it works! So my best option is still the Multi-Williams Jamma PCB with all 8 games.

Any comments on this one?

What is the cabinet?

If you were buying a control panel, then the 8-in-1 Arcadeshop.com control panel is the only one that will fit.

And you could save yourself some $$ and keep it Jamma and throw in a Jpac and (gasp!!) computer (pentium-300) for Mame... then you could have a 200-in-1 for less money.

The 8-in-1 jamma boards are great for operators but I don't see the allure for home use.  Do you need to do credit auditing and other such operator features?

Im just not a big fan of spending big dollars on essentially something that is MAME, unless you are an operator in need of a quick fix.
