Looks like my JP is sold, and it's heading to sunny California. It's been a looooongggg time since I sold anything to the States and I'm wondering the best method for payment -- one that insures I have the money before I ship the game. I have heard paypal can be a pain and the buyer can ask for the money back afterwards. If I get a money order, it might take awhile to clear. Any ideas are much appreciated.

A stack of Ben Franklins... ...seriously PAYPAL is quick, but you will get dinged around 2-3% commission which can hurt on a machine. Wire transfer is probably the best option from your side.
Thanks for the offer, Sub. I'll drop you a PM as the deal gets closer to closed. Still getting the details from the buyer. He wants to send money which is a good thing, so all looks like a go
Wire transfer is safe for you selling. Buying though, sending a wire transfer if the seller doesn't come through, you have no recourse but to go to court. Being in anouther country probably poses all kinds of problems I am sure if you have to take legal action.
I bought once this way and there was an extreme pucker factor. Thankfully the seller came through because it was a lot of $$.
You will need to get all the bank information, sometimes this includes an intermediary bank. Confirmation of getting the funds isn't immediate. It takes a day or two before your bank will acknowledge getting the transfer.
