True enough. It's too easy to get patents for things either already invented or for trivial things. The true test will be the courts. I'd be outraged if a big company went after a little guy using questionable patents but this is HTC/Google (the Nexus One is included in Apple's list of infringing products), they're no small fish. I'm sure that HTC would go after Apple if they could. In fact, depending on how things go expect a counter-suit.
But ya, sometimes I feel that they should just scrap patents all together, they're more trouble than they're worth. |
