Two molex connectors walk into this bar, and one terminal says to the other...

Ah, darn, there's no way to make this interesting, so here goes: Anyone know where to get a bunch of those crimp terminals? I've found out there are three sizes:

0.93
0.63

And the LAST size is the size of crimp terminal that is on EVERY freakin vid from 1978 to 1984 that nobody carries? I've been to Gervais, Active, Auto shops, Truck shops, Vending shops......Donut shops....sex shops.....did I miss anything?

thanks to anyone who has a pile of these things lol......I guess the size is like, 0.87 or something?

Craig

Ah I feel your pain. I try to be true to originality with these bloody pieces of crap but alas now you get the reason why so many ops butcher their wiring harnesses to keep things running. The question of the day is, where were their heads at when they opted to use these things in some relatively high current applications?

Did you try Mouser?

Let me guess... 0.084 Molex, right?

They are also used on pinballs here and there. I recommend you visit Ed Krynski's website at http://greatplainselectronics.com/ . Ed is an AWESOME guy... the best in my opinion.

He is cheap, fast, and great to deal with. He pretty much has all the connectors you need in pinballs and videogames.

Definitely worth putting his site in your favorites...

PS: and he ships through US Postal Service!

Retiring soon...

Great Plains has helped me but... I did receive some molex connectors that I got plastic only from him with no inserts??? Maybe it's just me but I would have thought ordering the connector is the entire connector not just the housing. Hmmm. Great Plains doesn't carry everything you need for game electronics so you may not find it there. I do like his rebuild kits though.

Active is very costly. I use them as supplier of last resort. Sayal is inexpensive, but lack the range of inventory. There is no happy middle ground in Canada I find for price and inventory.

Mouser is probably the best all round but you need to ship it up from down south.

If you know the Molex part numbers for the oddball connectors (0.084") you need, I may be able to get them for you at a reasonable price. As for the .093" connectors, I will be bringing a bunch of the common ones into stock in the next little while. I probably won't carry the .062" ones unless there is a demand for it.

Nope..  You have to order all the parts separately..  The housing, the inserts, the board connector (male pins) and if you want, the crimper and the pin removal tool.

Just placed an order for .100 connectors yesterday

I went a little ballistic last year and bought "buckets" of connectors
directly from Molex in the US using my Nortel "clout" .

I bought 100 x 0.93 12-pos sockets and hoods, as well as 2000 male and female pins.
I also bought 3000 KK crimp-connector pins for 0.156 connectors
(...of which I have several 100's of  4,6,7,9, & 11 pos connectors )
and 56-pin jamma connectors.

I use these to make clean, custom wiring harnesses for all my vids.

The unit price was good, but I got really screwed on shipping
(...see UPS post ! ).

If the demand is there, I can try to make another bulk order.
(in most cases, connectors sell by lots of 100, and pins by 1000's .
but the price per unit is likely only 30-40% of retail prices ).

Let me know who would be interested, and what you'd need.

Cheers,
Steph

Sparky, yeah, those are the culprits. 0.084....still not found, I'll definitely try mouser. I borrowed from Pac to fix Space Invaders, now I have to replace the Pac ones.

After this though,  I think I'll just rebuild them, get some 0.093's and call it a day I just have to get out of "this" jam and find 6 female terminals!

Thanks for the resources guys, I'll shake the tree and let you know what I find!

Also James, if you have some of these, sold!  I don't have the molex part number, but I'll see if I can find it.
